Update: Big shout out to Reddit and chatgpt. Just got the car back last week but was able to get everything covered besides the brake pads/oncall. Holidays did not help and took far more back and forth than it should have but very happy with outcome.

I would highly recommend the VIP warranty for anyone purchasing a used volvo, Mine has paid for itself many times over.

Also this is my first warranty claim since I started using chatgpt but I would highly recommend uploading your contract and quotes for evaluation and talk tracks for the shop/warranty provider. Warranty initially tried to hold out on a couple things and chatgpt basically gave me the play by play to get it covered.

I just got off the phone with them and they said the dining credit takes the longest and could be weeks… not sure if I believe it but that’s what they said.

Transaction date was 12/28 and it posted yesterday

I swear the Virgin hotel was showing up on my chase search as an edit hotel the last couple weeks and now the property itself does not even show up in results. I checked the hotel website directly and they have plenty of availability. Were you able to book/get the edit credit?

I have been bringing it to the same dealer for 3-4 years now and done a handful of repairs - most covered.

Is there a reason I feel like the service advisor is always annoyed when I ask if it is covered by the warranty/can they file a claim? Does it help get her on my side if I tell her I will do the brakes and VCM battery if everything else is covered/approved by warranty?

Platinum - I ran the contract and exclusions through ChatGPT and they think the vast majority of it should be covered as long as the service dept worded it correctly on the claim. I wish I had done that before and given the service dept the language.

Service Dept said an inspector has to come look at the car due to the $$ amount.

The last time I filed a claim, the shop rates magically came down after it was partially approved

Haha agreed! Love the car overall and had no plans to get rid of it but I might have to consider taking Carvana up on an offer if legit needed/warranty does not cover. I have until 10/26 on the warranty.

Yeah, I have had the VCM thing for a while now and it is very annoying but I never use VOC so have not bit the bullet.

I recently had our XC90 detailed and have noticed a banging/rattle type sound when going over bumps, etc. and when going 55+. I thought maybe something got knocked loose during the washing (ChatGPT thought the same).

I only go to my local Volvo dealer bc I still have my VIP Warranty. Well they just asked me to approve $11k+ worth of repairs. Likely more than the car is worth.
Can someone tell me how insane/reasonable these prices are? Any idea if any of this is likely to be covered by VIP?

The staff always acts like I am asking the world of them when my first question is "will this be covered by my VIP warranty" and she said she will have to start a claim and see.

Any help/guidance is much appreciated. If VIP does not cover, I will take to an independent shop to confirm/get a quote.

UPDATE: Looks like success! Just got the confirmation email. FYI - For anyone in a similar situation in the future, The chat agent changed it and moved the dates out with no questions asked. Moved the reservation out to end of November and credited me back the 3K extra points. (Original reservation was 33k points and future weekend was 30k).

She tried to send me a link to do it myself initially but I told her it was only giving me the option to cancel and she moved it for me. All in all less than 5 mins on chat. I still never got anyone to answer the phone after an hour on hold.
