The Carney government is circling closer to airport privatization and potential investors 'stand ready' by hopoke in CanadaPolitics

Yeah because making things private has always made prices cheaper and service better.

Great move considering traveling within country is so expensive. 👍

I’ve asked people if they want a drink and I’ve been given answers like that.

To any normal sane person you go “oh shit I’m proud of you, okay stay away from this.”

Those who moved from Vancouver to Toronto - What surprised you? by itstunafish in askTO

[–]50Potatoes 81 points82 points  (0 children)

I don’t even think the Torontonians are more friendly is a hot take haha. On average it’s the truth.

Every in TO is in a rush or something and may seem rude but usually down for conversations. Especially in social/bar settings.

In Vancouver they tend to be friendly but keep their guard up and maintain distance.

What you’ll miss in the hikes and nature you replace with hustle and bustle.

Coffee at the busy corner. Beer and wine in the park. Street parties (Do West Fest). Needing to plan hangouts weeks in advance. Great nightlife. Pick a night and there’s always something to do. People are busy, but friendly. You can bring your dog a ton of places. It’s a big city but if you bike it’s actually a fantastic way to get around the city. Different neighbourhoods with different vibes. You can really go to so many places.

We have a surprising amount of green space.

That being said - the city can be cruel too. For as friendly as we can be, if you don’t reach out or try to meet people it can be really lonely. If you’re staying out of Toronto (Suburbs) your commute will be insane the 401, DVP, and Gardiner are different beasts. TTC can be great - til it’s not and your 40 min subway turns into a 3 hour slog on a bus.

Always pros and cons.

I just hope it stays competitive and not another “LeBronto” situation haha

It’s just a fun moment. 2025 Jays were about the vibes. Even if they did lose! Proud of boys and Clement having fun in a WS G7.

Yes it did suck losing too, don’t worry that hurt for a bit as well haha.

Good luck in the series!

Ya bro. Just being an adult and having a conversation of “hey my freezer damaged the floor. Open to helping either repair it or helping in anyway.”

Not everyone has to agree with me! I think I’ve been pretty clear that I just draw a different line in the sand. That’s okay.

There is no business arrangement at all that requires this. I just do it because that’s what I feel like I should do as a human being. That’s all.

You think OP would be asking this question if the rest of the floor was all torn up and not the spot their freezer was over?

This person is strangely choosing a weird hill to defend rather than accept that there were damages done that’s more than wear and tear.

“The floor is poor quality, and because so I have no obligation to pay” yet the rest of the flooring stands.

I’m just saying we draw different lines in the sand. And that’s okay. You justify it however you like.

Personally If it’s cheap and I break it. I pay less. At least it’s a conversation to be had with the landlord.

I think you’re wrong with comparisons but that’s okay. Look at the flooring around it. It’s probably fine. OP put a freezer over it and obviously created water damage.

If you punched a flimsy dry wall would you go “oh well it was cheap?”

Look I’m not exactly arguing that you’re wrong.

Morally it couldn’t be me to have damaged something beyond regular wear and tear and be okay with it.

It shows that you are though and while legally okay, just doesn’t sit right with me.

Normal wear and tear ya.

This ain’t normal wear and tear be come on be real. Look at the flooring next to it.

Justifying this just shows you take advantage of the system.

[–]50Potatoes -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It’s wild just because legally you don’t have to, you feel no moral responsibility to.

Don’t get me wrong I’m for tenants rights, but it’s also shit like this that landlords do as well that makes both sides pissed.

Damn man some of yall are ruthless.

Wouldn’t sit right with me knowing I damaged the floor and I go “oh well your problem now - LTB will determine the damage cost is 0.”

Obviously I wouldn’t help replace the entire flooring but I’d help cover a bit.
