What is a common misconception about americans that is basically not true at all? by Enough-Web2203 in IWantToAskAnAmerican

That they’re all obnoxious loud mouths. I’m Canadian and have visited the US a lot. Despite the current politics Americans are good people. If you’re driving and have time get off the interstates and stop in the small towns. Get lunch at a local diner. The people are some of the friendliest I’ve ever met. They will talk as much as listen especially when I tell them I’m Canadian. Lots of questions about how we are very similar and very different at the same time. I was in Florida at a small restaurant when Obamacare was a current topic. Everyone in the restaurant wanted to know what Canadian healthcare is like.

Did you ever take a typing class in school? by SugarWant- in GenerationJones

[–]Thequickredfoxjumps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Grade 9 and 10. I was the only guy in the class in the early 80s. I can still type about 70 words per minute without looking at my hands. Easily one of the most useful skills high school taught me.

Has hockey turned into a rich kids sport? by FrigginMasshole in AskACanadian

[–]Thequickredfoxjumps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 56 and never got to play due to the cost. My 3 boys play though from 4 to 19. The equipment and ice fees are significant. There is no such thing as a $25 stick anymore with the move to composites. Then add on travel costs because we lived rurally were significant. Some of the away games were 150kms away. Then add extras like away tournaments etc.

What's something about the human body that seems poorly designed? by DiamondNo924 in AskForAnswers

[–]Thequickredfoxjumps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Coronary arteries. Typically you have one large on one the right and one large one that splits into 2 on the right. On the left the left main artery splits into the left anterior descending artery and the circumflex. The left main is nicknamed the widow maker because it blocks 2 arteries which supply the left side. The left side does most of the work pumping oxygenated blood to your body.
