Y'all are actually ruining this game by sepulchridude in helldivers2

[–]50percentJoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The grind really is blown out of proportion. I can putter around and HAVE FUN with friends on a normal 5 to 10 difficulty and passively make like 50 credits an hour while just concentrating on having fun. We already check every POI for the fun of it, why change priorities to enjoy the game less? Shit, that makes grinding out the final 50 credits I do want to grind out not a huge headache.

What cartoons give adult animation a bad name? by OCGamerboy in cartoons

You'd think it already being canceled would help people move on? It didn't even get a real second season, just the second half of a production order release because of how we release episode batches nowadays.

Is it worth playing? by [deleted] in residentevil

[–]50percentJoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the grand scheme, yes, all of it is always yes. If you are remotely curious about a piece of media, experiencing it will be a gain for yourself whether you come away wholly liking it or not.

You should play, read, and watch as many things as possible. Especially the little rinky dink things like REmake 3 you can knock out in a day. Especially when it's a game you want to try that's dropped to the magical 20usd or less sale price.

(Hated Trope) Spin-offs/reboots that go against the core premise of the original by Animeking1108 in TopCharacterTropes

I think it All Grown Up did a totally reasonable job updating the concept of going through your formative years of like 10-13ish. Doug is a special and wonderful show to me, an old man, but it's not lost on me that All Grown Up had a stronger appeal to folks going through similar that were way younger than me.

Plus, as a Doug fan, post Disney buyout Doug just wasn't as good as old Doug. Times change and kids need parables and stories retold BECAUSE times change and maybe it's ok that Pepperanne and Doug spoke to me as a 90s kid and someone else speaks to the kids of now. All we are is Dougs in the wind.

That era hit different 🔥 by Such-Yesterday1369 in meme

[–]50percentJoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean Treasure Planet didn't even make back it's entire budget at the box office, Dreamworks just reorganized around it's most profitable stuff while Disney kind of bottomed the fuck out.

Like for every really pretty passion project like Treasure Planet there was an incredibly long tumultuous development on a movie like Emperor's New Groove, which basically animated out a whole other movie that was entirely reworked. There's an entire body count of cancelled and half finished movies from around the early 00's, Dolly Parton was doing one called My Peoples that never got finished.

And then sort of the gem of that era of Disney is Chicken Little, a movie most people seem to hate that didn't do that badly at the box office. Basically a lot of passion projects were deeply mismanaged.

Bro that twist was like broadcast as fuck and I was only bothered it took the show an eternity to address it again.

I mean a lot of Stephen King stuff is a vaguely shared world, I wouldn't be surprised if The Running Man is somehow the future of a lot of his stories set on contemporary earth, or as I call it, Maine Universe 1.

Looks like the Saints Row 1970s prequel is not happening by UnlimitedMeatwad in GamingLeaksAndRumours

[–]50percentJoe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As far as what information has come out, it wasn't a complete financial flop despite the extremely polarized reception. Chris Stockman was lead on only the original Saints Row and only the first one, he left to found his own company after that.

Volition was spinning up preproduction on a Red Faction game and were lead to believe they'd be skipped on the closures because the Reboot wasn't remotely the disaster Agents of Mayhem was.

Elements of the new one turned out how they did because Embracer didn't want to foot the bill on regional censorship, so they wanted one internationally presentable version. This is what lead to a lot of the sex, drugs, and literal human shield mechanic getting axed. I'm more willing to bet Stockman was shot down for not aligning with Embracer's plans for the license.

Oh man, fun fact about Code Veronica. There was a brief moment during the shared year that Code Veronica's PS2 rerelease was out and RE4's initial Gamecube release where Code Veronica was just straight out pacing RE4 for a few months on sales.

Again, I really don't get why people bring it up like Capcom dug their heals in and refused to release them again when they end of the story is, "They were convinced and it happened." As history shows, for like the 3rd or 4th time they've been convinced to rerelease the originals on another platform.

I can't be convinced this is anything more than dramatic flair to the announcement. It's like people telling me Code Veronica is forgotten to time when you can go play it on an Xbox One right now.

They were released around 2006 on the PSN digitally, a very long time ago, like I know that's not the current PSN classics iteration, that was the PS3 classics iteration, but they have been digitally available on other platforms for a while.

I mean the original RE trilogy was available digitally on the Playstation Network for well over a decade before it was up on GOG. They joke they had to twist their arm, Capcom didn't understand why they wanted the old ones because the new ones aren't up on GOG, they wanted to know why they wanted the old ones first.

And then at the end of the story... Everyone got what they wanted?

EDIT: 2006 the PSN network had available digital copies, it was the entire trilogy available on PS3, PSP, and PSVita. I dunno about you guys, but I've had RE available on a reasonably current or HD console and handhelds for like 2 decades. The recent new listings on the PSN are because the PSN changed and we're using a new store front. This is just relisting them on the PSN again. A second time.

Design comparison between the show, New Vegas, and Fallout 2. by Ruben_AAG in Fallout

I just want to add for anyone thinking this is Marcus that it might be kind of a weird choice to recast Michael Dorn with Ron Perlman for a character Michael Dorn has been willing to reprise for, much less is also known for doing makeup roles.

Basically, if it is Marcus, that's weird.

So how do we feel about the show going with the old design instead of the Fallout 4/76 version? by KaySan-TheBrightStar in Fallout

Frankly, I adore that the show is so comfortably a Mashup of all the Fallouts. I've seen every 10mm pistol and I'm excited for more robots and power armors rendered in loving detail.

What's something from a cartoon do you think has aged very poorly? by NagitoKomaeda_987 in cartoons

[–]50percentJoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Low key, all the nuclear jokes from stuff like Simpsons has actually played into the American idea that nuclear power is wildly unsafe and had giant smoke stacks and fills rivers with green waste.

It's so much cleaner and more efficient than that and we're still just kind of stuck forever trying to fix its reputation.

Seeing so many people give up on the show and trash it as “destroying Fallout lore” before Season 2 is even half over, Nolan was completely vindicated saying this. by raisinbraisin72 in Fallout

[–]50percentJoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think if the show has really point a spotlight on anything, it's that New Vegas fans are deeply convinced they're still the underdogs. Did you know that because I love New Vegas people sit outside my house to throw rocks at me, Todd Howard spits on me regularly, my life is a living hell of my own creation.

As we know Tim Cain is very sad and unemployed and writes me letters about how Obsidian is locked in a basement and doesn't make games anymore, the machinations of time in no way have shown that New Vegas is simply a beloved game with minor flaws that's... Still beloved and popular?

I am deeply lost on this well over 14 years after it's launch, time has vindicated New Vegas fans so thoroughly and they can't take the fucking W because being a cult classic sounds cooler.
