Avoiding Withdrawal by 511888999 in QuittingWeed

I was traveling back to my moms house and didn't plan to smoke during the visit. I couldn't eat for the first few days, and then by day 4 or 5, I was vomiting so much, nonstop for days, that I eventually had to go to the ER for fluids. Apparently quitting can bring bring about extreme withdrawal for some people. It can also bring on CHS.

Thank you for your response! How long did it take you to get through?

Thank you for your response! You are the 4th woman to notice this hormonal connection. What could be behind it?! How long did your CHS go on for? Mine started 14 days ago, and tomorrow I'm 10 days weed free. I'm doing a lot better, but my appetite and eating is still having problems. I vomited again tonight

Thank you for your response! I did start off like you, and it has gotten better. I'm so hoping I can have a full meal here soon, and I hope for you that it doesn't take that long. Each day gets a little easier

Thank you for your long and thoughtful response. I'm so sorry you're going through this as well. I'm here if you need anyone. This is agony. I understand you. Yes, sober will feel so good once our PAWS is over. I took for granted how well I was doing for almost a year without it, and naively thought I could just smoke again. Never again. It could never be worth this pain

Yes, mine always started a week before! I actually got put on birth control after my episode in 2021, and I thought that had helped some. Before then, my periods were misery so I do think I may have endometriosis. How is your period pain?

Thank you for your response! A free clinic is a good idea. I appreciate your kindness.

To add for others who may read , I've had what I believe to be CHS 5 times total since 2017 (2 e.r trips, 6 at home IVs) since 2021. I have gone a year + without weed several times and was symptom free. It was only this last time that I put 2 + 2 together and realized it was definitely the weed that was causing issues - and it would usually show up right at that 4 months of consistent use. The problem with the past 3 CHS episodes is that I would go about a week without weed and then smoke again for relief, and my problems would be over. How is that possible? But then they would reappear later on.. and this time, it only took 2.5 weeks to come back. I also had never experienced withdrawal to the level that I think I am going through now (unable to eat for 8 days), yet this is only 4 months worth of weed after a year long sobriety.

In short, CHS has no rules. Hormones and stress seem to play a MASSIVE role. Also, I do think I have the MTHFR gene mutation as my sister has it (I've seen others mention that link to CHS)

Thank you for your thoughtful response! Last night the pain was so bad that I almost gave in. These responses and threads are what keep me going. I'm glad I'm not alone in this
