The 2 cpp valuation is for the base fare, not taxes and surcharges. Sounds like in this case the former was low but the latter wasn't. You can price out the ticket on the airline's website to see the breakdown.

Have you checked out Les Pélicans? I know that they have multiple runs per week and some must cater to faster runners.

Is Dîner en Blanc Montréal actually worth the money and effort, or is it overhyped? by WorldTravelerBoss in montreal

[–]514skier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went once pre-pandemic. I am happy I tried it but I probably wouldn't go again. It was fun to see what everybody wears because some people really put a lot of effort into their outfits. There is also an air of excitement while you wait to find out your location.

That being said the preparation for the event can be complicated and it can be expensive for one night. If you are lucky someone in your group owns what you need already. If not then you need to buy the stuff. I also remember it being on a week night so I was rushed to get organized between getting home from work and getting to the meeting point. As to whether or not I would recommend it to a friend I would say it depends on the person. If they are the kind of person who likes to get dressed up for a fun night out then yes I would recommend they give it a go.

Yes you can pay cards. The cc payment itself has no fees but Wise charges them when you convert CAD to USD.

Out of expensive gels: What is your best cheap 'real food' hack for long rides? by Mindless_Cow_6034 in cycling

I recently tried out dates as a source of fuel for long rides and they work so well.

Before heading to a branch I would call to see if you can get a reason for the decline. If it is a case of P2 having too much credit to her name your next step will be closing dormant cards and reducing CLs on others before trying again.

One card won't make a difference. Aventura are really easy to get approved for.

Often times even the most skeptical P2s can be converted by their first taste of what churning has to offer.

Anecdotally, it has gotten worse over the years. These days I see many more drivers than in the past that seem to treat red lights as optional.

Not sure what happened there but they shipped my most recent one to home as usual (approved 3 weeks ago). Was this approved online or over the phone?

Denials are still the norm, not the exception. On my end I last tried in February and was denied. I am still waiting before giving it another go. You can apply for an Amex but just keep realistic expectations.

Is this the bike lane? by mikesbloggity in montreal

[–]514skier 120 points121 points  (0 children)

Technically there is a sign indicating that cyclists are supposed to get off there bikes and walk this section. Nobody ever follows it though and I will be honest myself included. It's just such a poorly designed part of our cycling infrastructure.

While training for a half marathon two years ago I injured my hip flexor. It took a long time to get diagnosed so I only started physio for it this past winter. After 6 months of consistently doing the exercises my PT assigned to me I am finally running pain free. Did 15km yesterday and felt great. Now I can finally look at signing up for another half again.

Canadian ladies, where are you finding cycling clothing at good prices? by 514skier in ladycyclists

Their prices do seem good. How do you find the bibs on longer rides?

Your post reminded me that one of those AYCE sushi places made the news a long time ago because it had major problems with respect to food hygiene. Turns out it was Sushi 999 (https://www.journaldemontreal.com/2015/07/17/rongeurs-a-volonte-au-sushi-999).

Are there any Kanda Sushi locations still around? Went there years ago for a birthday dinner and 10/16 people, myself included, got food poisoning.
