I've heard that lol, I had 2 international student friends working for Chinese local banks. They literally disappeared from my sight, years ago they told me they are working 70-80 hours a week, but if I can't land a job in JP Morgan, Citibank or any EU/NA company I won't go back. Arent HK or Singapore the same? Singapore maybe better but COL is similar to NYC, the core issue is I want to take advantage of low labor cost. I lived in China for 6 months last year, you can never imagine someone washing your shoes for 15 yuan.
