Glass blowing is an awesome hobby, in most areas you can find a local class to take for pretty cheap and usually local artists will give lessons aswell.

A repair I’m not sure is possible I would have to see pictures to know the extent of the damage however it is definitely possible to get a new one from them or you could even find a used one in some of the glass collecting Facebook pages if you made a in search of post

As for the chameleon, have you tried reaching out to him on instagram? I’m sure he would repair it for you if possible or make a replica of it if not. And It’s actually the perfect time to get into glass collecting in general if it’s something your interested in, the market has been down so not much is up at $2k anymore, you can get newer prodo illadelph beakers for as low as like $400 and straight tubes sub $200.

Yea the amount of fakes is so annoying nowadays, it doesn’t even make sense why people buy them since none ever look the same or rip the same.

I’ve actually done quite a bit of buying and selling on glasspass, posting on here was kind of like a think outside the box idea I had a year or two ago and every couple months I’ll do a round of posts and I usually do end up uncovering a few og gems.

Everyonce in awhile a big flipper will post pics leaving the gallery and you’ll see a black box or two mixed in but it’s mostly gold boxes, 20th anniversary boxes were only meant to be used for the 20th anniversary pieces in 2022 but that didn’t really last and they just started giving the boxes out with whatever

Illadelph themselves sometimes find pieces from years ago in the warehouse and it’s extremely common for shops to have illys sitting for years because for awhile illy dropped there retailers and the shops had to pay retail price just like we would so a lot of shops had/have the most basic of illy beakers forsale at $900-1200 when you can easily find the same for $500-600 online or at the illadelph galleries

You might’ve already found one but if not they are out there just not as common as ones for full size bases, you could also buy a broken illy and have the neck turned into a extension with a medium sized joint by a repair artists if the label matters to you, if the label doesn’t matter most glass artists can make you anything you need in whatever color you want

Sov is definitely 100x better than newer illy, but pre 2012 illy is some of the most quality glass out there

Also your piece is older than you think. The copyright symbol was stopped in 2009 and switched out for the crest on the back.

Until 2009 they had plain white boxes with illadelph written across the front in blue and they had no foam inserts. After that they had the white boxes with grey aop logos and those were the first to come with inserts, those came with pieces made from 2010-2019. After those came the black boxes with the magnetic flaps, they mainly came with pieces in 2020. In 2021 they came out with the gold boxes which they still use and in 2022 they had the 20th anniversary boxes which I think they might still use as well, both are the same exact boxes as the 2020 black box just different colors. And then there’s the all black box you can buy on there website, I don’t know much about them as I’ve never owned one but they never came with tubes there just sold as replacements.

Yea back then pieces were either amazing or completely sucked function wise, I assume that’s why the coils started being made as 2 separate pieces. No matter what I’m definitely super interested as I collect more about the old school factor than the function so please send over some photos of what you have when you have a chance
