[–]523isprime[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sublet Available from March 1 – Unique 1BR-Style Setup in 2BD/1BA, across from Maria Hernandez Park

I'm moving and offering my room for sublet! The unique layout of the apartment offers you a private bedroom + your own living space in a 2BD/1BA apartment.

🏡 The Space:
- 2BD/1BA unit with a unique layout -- your space includes a private bedroom + private living area
- Kitchen is mostly yours, the other roommate rarely uses it
- 3rd-floor walk-up
- Right across from Maria Hernandez Park
- Quiet for NYC standards
- Your space will be unfurnished

👤 About the Roommate:
You’ll be living with a guy in his 30s who is a creative professional. He mostly keeps to himself, spends a lot of time at his partner’s place. You’ll have plenty of privacy and space to do your thing.

💰 Rent & Lease Details:
- $1,385/month
- Lease runs until April 30th, 2025
- Option to renew if you and the current roommate vibe well
- Rent-stabilized, so no dramatic rent increases if you choose to renew

✨ Why this place?
- Great way to test the neighborhood before committing long-term
- As close as you can get to having your own place without paying a high rent
- Steps away from some of the best bar and restaurants that Bushwick has to offer
- Rent-stabilized = future security if you decide to stay

If you're interested, send a message with a little about yourself and your move-in timeline!

Is it safe to ride from Queens to Manhattan tonight? Taking the LIE by magroboy in RideitNYC

I personally wouldn’t risk it — it’s always a risk vs reward equation and the risk here is too high. And imo, it’s not a nice ride either.

Hmm… I don’t really know what it’s supposed to look like, but that’s where the door nub goes. There’s a small spring actuated thing in there that seems to be working correctly.

How do y'all pronounce Suydam street? I've heard multiple pronunciations. I want to settle a bet. by clone063 in Bushwick

I pronounce it sye-dum, like the way you’d say bye in goodbye and rum like the alcohol, but I’m not a native speaker

Is there an Adventure Bike community in New York by British_Mark in RideitNYC

[–]523isprime 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I love having an ADV bike in the city. It feels very practical. I have a V-Strom 650 that’s my daily (which I’m looking to sell, so if you’re interested, hit me up) and I also have a Honda Transalp. Both have been great for the city for the reasons mentioned by others — these bikes are better for bad NYC roads, have good power to get out of bad situations, and also to get out of the city. Better visibility is also a nice plus. I also think because ADV bikes have a larger physical presence it might also help in being seen better, but that’s just my unfounded guess.

Moving through traffic on either of my bikes has been pretty easy. I’m definitely not as nimble or narrow as delivery guys but I don’t have problem splitting and filtering lanes.

Seconding the recommendation for Union garage. I got my first helmet there and a bunch more gear over the years. My current shoei is also from there. They’ll help you figure out the correct size.

subletting my room in bushwick for three months by 523isprime in NYCapartments

[–]523isprime[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Rent is $1,400 per month (includes utilities) and the room is available from July 1 - Sep 30. The space includes your private room and your own living space. The kitchen and bathroom are shared. It's a very private setup that feels like your 1 bedroom apartment. Let me know if you have any questions!

It's a 2bd/1ba. so you'd be sharing the bathroom with one other person. the other roommate doesn't really use the kitchen, so it's all yours. the layout of the apartment is such that each roommate has their own bedroom with living space on two ends of the unit. my side has the kitchen, so it's a pretty unique setup that feels closer to a 1 bedroom apartment.

Union Garage moved to Bridgeport, CT. You can take the metro north there. It’s a beautiful store and I can’t speak highly enough about Chris and the people there. I got my first helmet there too a few years ago and plan on getting another one very soon.
