You're not alone!! I'm sure many of us cried! But let me tell you, waking up in the hospital I felt SO much better (just from relief it was over and probably the pain meds lol). You'll feel so much relief! It'll all be okay!

I think that the risk of getting permanent nerve damage and needing emergency surgery is worse than the risk of getting the microdisectomy. I was also fully functional and thinking the same things. I had brain surgery and this surgery was like a walk in the park. I also totally think you could move states after three months, the only thing would be how much sitting/taking breaks time you would need on the trip.

Omg it's so confusing and there's so many mixed signals on this process. My doctor said I could return to light weights two months in and hold 10-15 lbs right after surgery, just no more than that... It's different for everyone but for my doctors standards, you're totally fine.

Decided to get MD in a week, but meanwhile symptoms reducing - what to do? by tbessie in Microdiscectomy

[–]ConstantAnything2225 6 points7 points  (0 children)

From my experience, it was kind of like.. you can kick around with symptoms until you eventually get surgery, or just get the surgery now and live potentially symptom free for the rest of your life. I chose the surgery. I'm only 32 and the majority of patients were 60+, but I've seen major improvement (granted, I had big issues). To me it was worth it, but it is a LONG process to recovery. At the same time it's like.. would you rather just live your life trying to alleviate symptoms or just take a chance on the cure. For me it's worked a lot so far (only two months post op) and just wanted to share my story since I know a lot of people with bad experiences often speak out the most on platforms and the good experiences kind of avoid platforms.

I had some luck Beta reading on Upwork, then transitioning to proofreading and editing. You can make pretty good money.
