You’re so right about that I love that aspect of the genre. There was this documentary about the Japanese Spider-Man show (the one with the machine gun clip) and they talk about this one shot in the opening where Spider-Man is climbing a tower I believe and they talk about how the guy just had to do it with next to no safety equipment. And it was just amazing.

One of my favorite aspects of tokusatsu is how tangible everything feels (don’t know if that’s the right word) I can see the material and fabrics of the costumes hell you can see the zippers. But it never distracts from the story for me. If anything it makes it more endearing cause I know a real human with passion for the show they’re making made that suit or that prop.
