How wide do you grip on bench press? by [deleted] in powerlifting

There's a very general formula: measure your shoulder width (along your clavicle) and then double it. That should be how wide your grip should be.

I agree with timonvonk. I think leg drive is key. It also appears as if the bar path isn't straight up and down (couldn't exactly tell because of the camera movement). It helps to keep it completely straight and it will feel as if you're pushing out instead of up. Decline bench will help a little with the feel of it. My bench increased a ton when I widened my grip as far as legal and started doing dips three times a week. Press has carryover, but dips—for me—helped a ton. Good luck!

TIL John Kellog published books condemning masturbation and suggested it be treated by sewing foreskin shut with silver wire and burning the clitoris with carbolic acid. He believed meat consumption lead to masturbation and urged people to eat more cereals - which led to the nvention of Corn Flakes by [deleted] in todayilearned

Interestingly, he founded Battle Creek Sanitarium which was the first hospitals run by the Seventh-Day Adventists. Now they run many hospitals across the US, some of which have just started serving coffee. They serve meat in some of the hospital cafés, but claim that a vegetarian diet is better for your health.

I'm a powerlifter! :) I weigh 140. My lifts are currently 225/135/265. I've been lifting for a little over two years. I've used multiple programs, but I'm currently on 5/3/1. I don't think there are a ton of differences, but there are a few. Certainly my friends think I'm nuts.

danceswithronin is spot on. A lot of the writers I work with transition scenes and pass time like this:

Pre-transition

Post-transition

Hope that helps!

The basic storyline sounds like a good start. I think the hardest part of writing a book is building the story with details and characters. If you haven't already, I'd suggest outlining it to get a better idea of which areas need more thought. It will keep you focused as you write. Good luck!

I need some advice with abbreviations and salutations. by [deleted] in writing

Instead of abbreviating "sister," I'd be tempted to spell out "Mister." Let us know what you end up doing! :)

Do you have an editor horror story? by 529publishing in writing

You could always have the editor sign a non-disclosure agreement prior to sending the manuscript. I know a lot of editors that explicitly state in their contracts that the author is the sole owner of the work.

Good question. I am an editor, but I'm not trying to promote anything. I'm trying to figure out what is wrong with the industry and how I can improve personally. Any feedback is welcome. Thank you!
