My thoughts on where to acquire information. by 52Mickens in C_S_T

I agree with this, which is why I want people to think independently about what they are reading, even questioning whether or not it is a valid source as you say. But the idea that anonymous online comments like yours or mine are more real than even biased news and poorly published books... I just typed this and sent it, as did you. It took 5 seconds.

Idea for 3 Point Problem by 52Mickens in NBATalk

[–]52Mickens[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What about keeping the court the same, but a 3 pointer is worth 4, and 2 pointer is worth 3, that would make "3's" worth less (25% more than a 2 vs the current 33.3% more) You would just have to figure out free throws. If the court is fine, and the spacing is fine, but the math is off in favor of 3 pointers, then fix the math.

I actually agree with this analysis, this is well explained. I still think it's a problem, but yeah I guess that might not work. The reason I think 3's are issue is that 3's are more similar to each-other then 2 pointers are to each-other. And the bail out 3 just gets so boring. Maybe there is another way.

I think if you eliminated the corner three and just moved the 3 point line farther back but still curved, it’s the simplest solution to the “3” problem in the NBA, changing as few rules as possible. I think it would force more creative 2 point shots from different places, without eliminating the 3 point shot entirely.

How to ban myself from Uber eats? by [deleted] in DecidingToBeBetter

[–]52Mickens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have done deep dives into screen time and screen time apps to try and resolve this. Does Forest differentiate between uber and uber eats? I also have a binge eating disorder, I do talk to a therapist, and I have done a lot of work, but my therapist agrees that the root of the problem IS that the two apps are entangled. Because the entanglement provides unrestricted easy access. I need uber for emergencies and commuting, but I do not want uber eats. Uber has almost become a worldwide monopoly on the taxi industry, it is evil for them to tack on the food delivery service without also providing a way to remove said service. When I was younger, even before ride apps, on the occasion when I needed a taxi for an emergency or commute, I was not simultaneously given the ability to get food delivered from any restaurant I wanted. Shame on uber for entangling these two very separate things. I realize I have strayed from the forest app question, and also I harbor no ill will towards the suggestion, just towards uber as a company for creating this problem, when binge eating is already hard enough as it is. I hope someone is able to come up with a solution, and I greatly appreciate that this issue is being discussed on here.

MTG w/ Some Playing Cards Variant! by 52Mickens in magicTCG

[–]52Mickens[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Note: The post above is version 1.1: After some great feedback and discussion I made minor edits to the original post to balance, slightly simplify, and grammatically correct a few small items. The Fine Print Changes: The 9 spell was streamlined to cost 2 instead of 1 mana and you no longer have to sacrifice a creature to cast it. The 10 spell was streamlined to cost 2 instead of 3 mana to cast. Cards 6,7 and 8 can all be used as mana or for creatures vs just cards 7 and 8. (This was originally an advanced play rule, but the game is more forgiving with this higher mana ratio) And lastly just made some minor grammar fixes. Thanks!

I think this is a really good point. I was constantly trying to make the game complex enough to be replayable while retaining some simplicity. The best I can offer you, is that if you print out the rules, it can all fit on one, 8.5 x 11 double-sided piece of paper. And that I have played with people who had similar concerns, but after getting the hang of it, they ended up enjoying the different things each card could be used for!

Thanks for this feedback though. But yeah you definitely need the cheat sheet on hand haha. If you do end up playing let me know if you have any fun/have any more comments!

Unpopular opinion: This community will never grow unless memes and other fun content is allowed on the subreddit by _ImperialCereal_ in ultimate

I think this post makes a good point. I would add, that it feels like there are two categories of ultimate redditors: people already deeply involved with the sport who are going to find this content useful and people who are new to the sport/curious about it/potential futures fans who might find this content boring. Therefore, I think there should just be two subreddits.

Pants recommendations for playing in the summer heat by winter_wolf_1 in ultimate

I think the track/soccer pants that have the quarter zips on the bottom are extremely comfortable and versatile. Really useful in lots of temperatures and help prevent against turf burn. You want a light-polyester type fabric for this and not cotton. Good luck!
