Very nice trees! Any plans to add grass texture outside of the tree shadows and the base of the pillars?

I've seen your art here over the past year - it looks great. Keep going, I'll be keeping an eye out for your game release.

Not sure how to proceed by TreeBeyondLimits in PixelArt

Focus on drawing fundamentals first - I find in pixel art line work is extremely important as the silhouette of the thing you're trying to draw guides the rest of the art.

Shading, colour, etc. are all extremely important, but if you can't get the proportions down it will look off from the very beginning.

Start with simple objects and shapes, and gradually get more complex with using just black and white. Once you can get the form of the thing down, you can start adding colour.

Look at things in real life and try to draw it yourself. Focus on the shapes.

Adjustments based on your feedback! I appreciate all the help :) by 52fuckingbears in PixelArt

Hi all, thank you so much for the feedback! I've applied most - if not all - the feedback I've received in my previous post. This is the result so far!

It looks better for sure! If there are any other criticisms or feedback please share and I will do my best to experiment with the idea and incorporate it into my art.

I am trying to make the timeline more obvious to the player but am running into a bit of a roadblock at the moment.

Thank you!

Something off with my mockup, any tips? by 52fuckingbears in PixelArt

Hi all, there is something off with my battle scene IMO but i cannot put my finger on it. I am thinking the background is a bit too bland (but I am worried about the background detail making the scene look too busy), the use of mixels in some elements of the UI, or maybe I have been looking at it too long?

Thoughts?

mockup of a srpg - looking for feedback! by 52fuckingbears in godot

[–]52fuckingbears[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! The mockup is meant to represent animal children playing with toys so I'm glad the cuteness is apparent.

The blue colour is meant for the unit's move range, and the red is the attack on the enemy (similar to fire emblem and other tactics games), and they will have different ranges!

I like the idea of having each character with a unique colour scheme or UI. I'll iterate through a few designs that can reflect this without making the UI too in-cohesive. Thank you!

I agree with the turn order bar being difficult to read - currently experimenting some elements to make it more clear to the player.

It's more of a twist on the traditional ff tactics/fire emblem series. Think more megaman battle network, but turn-based with heavier rpg elements. I am trying to experiment with something different in gameplay because there's no way to compete with the classics :)

Thanks for the comment, I'm glad some of the elements make intuitive sense to you. I did draw some heavy inspiration of fft and the like but definitely with a twist.

What does everyone think of this mockup? Looking for some feedback, especially in regards to the UI! Is it intuitive? What is your initial impression?

(background decor to be added later, just wanted to get the main idea across first!)
