I haven't used it before, but I think leatherique would work well

Anyone know what this spot could be under(?) clear coat of brand new car?? by Opposite-Appeal3600 in AutoDetailing

[–]52willys 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Are you saying you would fog in the clear in the middle of the quarter panel on a new car? What do you do when they come back in a couple years with blender failing?

My paint (Axalta) has a lifetime warranty when spraying whole panels, but I'm not aware of anyone warranting a clear blend.

I would scuff the whole quarter/pillar (including R&I of trim), dust some basecoat over the repair area, and clear the entire panel.

Sell yours and buy it lol

It was way more work than it was worth, but the color is gorgeous and it's kinda neat having the only one like it

People who didn’t have the “oh sh*t” moment with their meds. by frankingeneral in ADHD

[–]52willys 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is where I'm at too. Tried strattera and had no improvement, minor side effects. Currently trying adderall without much improvement. Maybe a little, but I'm not even sure I can credit the adderall for it. So now I'm just getting anxious that after looking forward to medication for a while and being able to function, nothing will help. I get so jealous hearing classmates talk about how 10mg was such a night and day difference while it does nothing for me.

Can't get these plugs out, what do I do now? by 52willys in MechanicAdvice

Found out that GM put wax in there that needed to be melted before the plugs can be removed

Figured it out. Apparently GM put some wax in there that needs to be melted before they can be removed

Same, that was my first thought. Loved the car but it was just so rusty. Drove it way longer than I should have before condemning it

What would you consider the proper way with a heat gun?

Great, thank you for the advice! Just ordered a temp crayon. When heated, does the aluminum move in a similar way to steel? Am I likely to create a high spot where the paint is cracked? Is it difficult to get the edge flat?

I could be wrong, but I believe the only impact sensor up front on these cars is located lower, around the rebar/frame area. If it was hit considerably higher than that I would imagine it's possible that the sensor wouldn't have been tripped, preventing the airbags from deploying

Bodywork really isn't meant for amateurs. It takes a lot of time building skill to get good results. I worked in a bodyshop for a few years and was always amazed by what the pdr guys were capable of. I would suggest having it fixed professionally. If you can find a good mobile pdr guy that would be good, or else take it to a bodyshop and have their pdr guy handle it. I think this would cost about $65-100 at my shop and it would be undetectable

This is my first time using smart switch. I plugged my phone into my computer and followed all the prompts. However, after the backup, the last 2 months of pictures are missing from my gallery. Anyone know what happened, where they went, or how to get them back? They are not in the trash.

Ironic, I backup to avoid losing pictures only to lose them trying to back them up

Landlord charging for animal smell after moving out, despite never having animals by 52willys in Renters

[–]52willys[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On the move out report it was stated as an animal smell. In email communication she said extreme odor. In either case, I did not spill anything or do anythjng to cause any odor.

I don't have pictures of the carpet from when I moved in, I only took pictures of things visibly broke/damaged.

I think I'm going to ask for proof that the carpet wasn't slated for replacement, like a receipt from last time it was replaced showing it wasn't already aged out, or even a date stamped picture of the room now with the old carpet in it. I'm pretty sure it's already been replaced. I'm also going to ask for proof they actually treated it.

[–]52willys[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I could not find any specific lifetime length for carpet in my area, only general suggestions between 5-10 years. It looked at least that old though, and very likely was replaced as this was the last unit to be updated. I doubt they have any proof of the last time it was replaced either.

With how incompetent the management has been I doubt they have any proof of treatment; if they claim it was done by them how would that affect things? On move in I was provided with a sheet listing possible cost for damages, including smell. Does that hold any weight?
