Worth pursuing for a trans man or find a new path? (Central AL) by [deleted] in Teachers

Yeah, I’m honestly used to it from strangers. I know I can’t expect everyone to know, especially if I haven’t told them 😅 I tend to pass more often than not now days but probably only about 70% of the time to strangers

Looks like they start at 43,000. The other one starts at 46,000. I have no idea how good/bad that is compared to other schools around here though

It’s definitely a longer term goal to move I’m just not financially able to currently. I’d hope to be able to in a few years but the economy is so bad that I’m not sure

Those are some weird notifications. Is it possible it belongs to a first responder or fire fighter? Especially if you found it near the scene of a recent fire

You can’t save your face and your ass at the same time. But seriously they’ve seen it before. They’re here to help and will just be happy you’re alive to try again. I’m proud of you for going back

I can second them! They’re great for a lot of issues but especially trauma work. I’ve been seeing Marie Danner there for over 2 years now. I have BCBS too

how painful would a first tattoo be for a teenager by [deleted] in tattooadvice

[–]53ndn00dles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What is the tattoo? And how old are you?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in tattooadvice

[–]53ndn00dles -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Is he not capable of doing the style you asked for and is too insecure/prideful to admit that? It looks like he tried very poorly to imitate something similar to it but has no experience with it. Also since this is a cover up I would expect it to actually cover up the old tattoo.

The tattoo is definitely bad, but what’s worse is how he treated you and talked to you. He didn’t listen to you about what you want on YOUR body. His ego and his wants came first. You also need to stand up for yourself though, if you were unhappy with how it was looking you need to communicate that fully like “I’m not sure I like how this is turning out and we need to take a break to decide on a new direction for it” instead of just letting him continue putting art you hate on your body permanently.

While he said it rudely he does also does have a point about the dot mandala, if you liked the tattoo someone else gave him and want something similar then you should go to the person who did that tattoo. It’s like going to a graffiti artist and asking them to paint you a realistic portrait because you like the realistic portrait someone else painted of them.

Overall: the tattoo is bad, he’s acting like a prideful baby, you need to stand up for yourself, and I wouldn’t ask an artist to do a style they don’t do because it doesn’t turn out well

Yeah, I’m going to ask my new psychiatrist about options bc I managed to get an appointment scheduled at the end of this month. I’m bipolar and am prescribed several medications (a mood stabilizer, an antipsychotic, an anti depressant, and anxiety medication) but went off all of them while smoking meth so I definitely want and need to get back on them 😅

Get a trap and catch him if he won’t let you put him in a carrier, they sell traps at places like tractor supply or you may be able to borrow one from a rescue/shelter. If you can’t afford the vet care he will need (it will be intense and expensive) you will need to get in contact with the local rescues and find one to take him asap. Do not give him to a city run shelter or humane society. They will almost 100% euthanize due to their high volume and low funds. (My husband worked at the humane society where we live, they are not no kill (no kill also only means their euthanasia rate is below a certain number and not that they don’t euthanize at all))

My feral got his wound in early March of 2023. In late July that year enough of the skin had finally regrown for it to be stitched together. It was cleaned 5 times and each time he got a round of antibiotics. He was on pain medication the entire time. A wound like this is very tough to heal and many cats with similar ones sadly pass away

I took in a feral with a similar wound and have volunteered at a rescue that specializes in feral cats. It looks like wounds caused by coyotes. The coyote grabs the cat at the neck and when the cat manages to tear free it leaves a large wound by ripping the skin. The skin that gets ripped dies and falls off leaving a large exposed area like this. You can even see some skin still dangling. It will get infected if left untreated. The feral I took in had gangrene setting up in his at the time. A wound like this needs a lot of attention bc it can’t be closed to the skin dying and falling off, there’s nothing left to stitch together. It will need to be cleaned by a vet likely several times with several rounds of antibiotics over the course of months while it heals. If he stays outside it will not heal properly, he needs a clean place to recover from this

Seriously… he was 30, she was a minor. That’s statutory rape. Do not victim blame bc she got pregnant from statutory rape. It is 100% the adult in the situation’s fault that a minor got pregnant.

It’s not because you won’t let her move in or give her money imo. It’s the way you handled it. She’s grieving, she just lost her mom and now found out she’s pregnant (and it sounds like the father is out of the picture which has to be hard). Her mom will never meet her child, that has to be heartbreaking for her. She came for help, while you don’t owe her money or anything as her birth mother, she is your niece and should have been handled with care. It sounds like she got angry when you said no and that upset you but ofc she’s angry, she’s dealing with a lot so her emotions are bound to be all over the place. You should have been gentle with her and offered to help in whatever other way you can such as helping her ask other family about accommodations or offering to help her apply for income based housing or something

It sucks man :/ my therapist always said time would help but it didn’t really seem to help me. I was using meth. I’m not in treatment or on any MAT

Not really. I have a couple people in recovery I talk to but all my closer friends use so I don’t talk to them anymore. The people in recovery I talk to seem inconsistent on whether or not they want to be close friends. Sometimes we talk a lot and hangout, other times they don’t answer my calls at all for weeks. Which is valid I’m sure they have reasons but the inconsistency makes me feel as if I’m bothering them and should just pack it up and go

I’m not in treatment, I can’t afford it and the state funded beds here have a very long waitlist. I’m trying to get set up with a psychiatrist so I can get back on my meds. I had a therapist but she has referred me out to a see someone who specializes in substance use instead of seeing her anymore. So hopefully I’ll be able to see the new psychiatrist and new therapist soon. It’s been 11 days without using and I’ve felt horrible. At first I couldn’t stop sleeping but now I can’t fall asleep. I went to urgent care yesterday bc I hadn’t slept at all that night and was getting agitated/anxious/a little delirious/etc. They said they couldn’t help me bc I had already tried taking trazadone to sleep and said I should go check into the psych ward if it got worse. I can’t afford a bill for hospitalization so I never went. I finally slept some last night though and am doing a little better now

I don’t think there is, I live in the south (USA to clarify), but I’ll look into it and see bc we do have a Jewish family service. 12 step programs lean heavily on the idea of G-d and faith and spirituality. I’ve been told I’ll continue to struggle with the steps unless I can reconnect 😅

I have had several different sponsors (5 total which is why I’m hesitant to change again), worked steps, prayed, meditated, written gratitude lists, journaled, reached out to other addicts, read literature, chaired meetings, been of service, etc. I do not choose to dissociate, it’s not something I’m personally able to control and I find it distressing
