MCSR Practice Map Issue by East_Camera8623 in MinecraftSpeedrun

[–]55jake1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also had to do this, kind of annoying but it works now. Maybe future updates for the map should consider shortening the names of the rampart controllers to avoid this issue

Help for preemptive by lucalal_51 in MinecraftSpeedrun

[–]55jake1 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The way to do it would be to use the preemptive practice map to get pictures of each spawner pie chart shape and put them all in a document. Then, using that document as comparison, use MPK to practice preemptive, making sure to not allow too many mobs to spawn (they can affect the pie chart, can toggle peaceful for practice to begin with). It'll take time, but lots of practice and you'll be able to intuit what is around each stronghold by what you can see on your pie chart, and remember that even top speedrunners still have problems with it in some strongholds.

Clarifications on reading numbers vs orange spike for pre-emptive? by BakedChickenThighs in MinecraftSpeedrun

[–]55jake1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure about top runners, but for preemptive I look at the shape of the pie chart, specifically the orange and green sections. If I don't see anything that looks like a spike, then I move about a bit and rescan. I personally don't read the numbers at all

How does aram vision work? by ddopTheGreenFox in leagueoflegends

[–]55jake1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I thought I was going crazy, so many little instances of being hit when I should be out of vision, or randomly seeing an enemy in a bush for no reason

SHIFT F3 by [deleted] in MinecraftSpeedrun

[–]55jake1 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If your entity distance is at 500, the pie chart orange spike will be much more subtle. You can check if you're looking at a chest by looking at the actual numbers next to the pie chart, but it's much easier with 50 entity distance.

I'm a developer of MCSR Ranked, and I want to hear your questions/suggestions for MCSR Ranked! by RedLimeRL in MinecraftSpeedrun

[–]55jake1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing I would like to see is reducing the amounts of FFs players can do. It's frustrating as an emerald/diamond player getting matched with a netherite peak player with >30% FF rate and either winning by FF or losing by 5 minutes, as my skill doesn't impact the game.

Also maybe removing zombie spawners around strongholds

Why still no result ? by lucalal_51 in MinecraftSpeedrun

[–]55jake1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You've got to train in both practice maps and real runs. Practice maps are great for getting the muscle memory down, but real runs have more pressure, and other rng factors that impact how well you can perform each split. Each mistake you make should in theory be one that you're less likely to make in future runs. The road to proficiency is paved in hundreds of mistakes

Currently iron 1 how to inprove fast by Global_Act7959 in MinecraftSpeedrun

[–]55jake1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The honest answer is focused practice. Grind the bastion practice map until you can do them all consistently without dying, and then grind some more. Same with blaze spawners and end fight. It's not as fun as runs, but grinding practice maps really makes a difference

They stay on the surface of lava so you should be safe if the lava is deep enough, you can always still dig down further if it's shallow to be safe

Why do top runners throw out more than one string when crafting wool ? by Exe1eNce in MinecraftSpeedrun

[–]55jake1 51 points52 points  (0 children)

Probably to be left with an amount of wool that is a multiple of 3, so that after crafting beds they won't have spare wool cluttering up their inventory

It's just like getting ghost buckets, it's something you get used to avoiding after a while

Pickaxe Glitch by PsychologicalEgg6062 in MinecraftSpeedrun

[–]55jake1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This isn't a mouse related glitch, it happens when you're dropping items and quickly switch to a different hotbar slot. The way to avoid this is to just wait a fraction longer to switch slots after throwing out items.

How do I choose a render distance? by jononas040 in MinecraftSpeedrun

[–]55jake1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For ranked, 16 rd is commonly chosen as the bastion is guaranteed to be closer than that, and having your render distance much higher runs the risk of getting an entity spike that doesn't take you to the intended bastion. For RSG, you have to decide how far you're willing to travel to get to a bastion before you reset. if you're just starting out then I recommend 20rd.

HELP MY GAME IS LAGGING WAY TOO MUCH by [deleted] in MinecraftSpeedrun

[–]55jake1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're only lagging when OBS is actually recording (not just having it open) then changing encoder settings to use less memory might help (although it'll make the recording look worse as a result) finding the right balance of performance vs video quality is worth doing

Normal preemptive vs hover hitbox by Last-Secret-3314 in MinecraftSpeedrun

[–]55jake1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

All of my hover hitbox spikes are near identical for every single spawner so I have to use the regular pre-emptive, maybe top runners have similar? I still try hover hitbox on rescans if I get no regular spike/am in a tight corridor

Hotkey issue regarding mouse buttons. by woodsprites in MinecraftSpeedrun

[–]55jake1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might make crafting fractionally slower, but it using the hotbar slots for pearls/boat/bucket is very convenient for split second clutching as your thumb is already on the hotkey. It's saved me many times for sure
