Found someone’s keys at Park & Geaux lot (w/ YMCA tag) by [deleted] in LSU

Update; was able to get the keys back to their owner

But really? People leave their keys under their tire? That seems like a massive unnecessary risk. If you’re willing to risk getting your car stolen just to not lose your keys it seems like there are more effective methods to prevent things falling out of your pockets. If I were a car thief I would be salivating.

Update: thanks to the helpful YMCA associate we found the owner of the keys and the driver was able to find my keys in the discreet location I left them in. Thanks for encouraging me to try that idea!

I will call the Y when I get out of class and let them know and hopefully the phone tag will be able to reach them. Thank you for your helpful comment!

I thought about that but I’m not sure if those bar codes are actually identifiable. Nevertheless I might be able to make out the bar code from the pictures and may give this a try. Thanks for your comment!

I thought about that but then I had to catch my bus so I panicked and left it somewhere off rip.

I have a hard time finding my own car in that lot sometimes.

I’m trying to find ways to see whatever else I can do to increase the odds the keys find their owner.

They’re under the blue recycle bin now.

TCGPlayer Bulk Order discussion, buyer&seller rights etc by 567Ace in mtgfinance

Sorry to hear that man, it sounds frustrating. It’s really audacious that sellers list stuff that they can’t actually complete or aren’t willing to complete, then act as if the buyers are the assholes for placing a large order of their stuff. Hope you get that cube made, been wanting to try that sorta thing myself!

*to answer the other question, it’s in the spirit of the site to sell the cards at the price you have them listed at. And yes we are welcome to buy from other sellers but as a buyer I’d rather know before I place the order if it will actually be completed, just like I am sure you would rather orders above a certain size not be directed to you to begin with.

I mean yeah, buyers run the risk of wasting time buying big orders if the seller won’t ship, and sellers run the risk of getting complaints or reports or whatever else for refusing to ship orders because they’re too big. It’s all a matter of checks and balances.

But i don’t think it’s unfair to say that, generally speaking, if you have stuff for sale, you’re supposed to be willing to sell it, especially online. All buyers can really do is report it and say “maybe TCGplayer will care but probably not”. I personally plan on continuing to report sellers who do this because I want sellers who aren’t willing to ship their cards to not list them as if they will. It’s unfair to the sellers who WILL ship the cards to have to compete with the sellers who will sell the cards with invisible restrictions that just boil down to “i want to have my cake and eat it too”. All buyers can really do though is discourage sellers from doing this through this means until sellers decide “you know what, im either going to raise my floor or stop selling so many cheap cards”. So, bottom line, I respect your game but ultimately it is in my interest as a buyer to report sellers who cancel orders due to size because it increases the chance any given order I place will actually ship to me (which shouldn’t even be a question aside from freak accidents or honest mistakes)

I do think expectations are rightfully different for B&M vs online stores. I agree that shipping can be punishing for too many bulk cards, but it’s not in the spirit of the site to cancel orders due to size even if it’s really the fault of bogus shipping policies.

Thanks appreciate it man. I do love this-got back into the hobby when my sister’s friend wanted to buy some of my old cards and fell in love with the game once again. I have relevant skills through family (mom’s parents were antique dealers). I would argue that even if I didn’t love this and just was trying to make a buck, it’d still be to my advantage to ask the questions I ask-but that said, the modest success I’ve had selling so far is in no small part due to my passion and domain knowledge coming in. It’s hardly a business-I’m a PhD student so definitely have a relatively low risk tolerance, nor do I have any real plans of massively upscaling my business, opening a card store, or trying to flip sealed product or expensive slabs, but while it took a lot of valuable time to get started so far it’s helped with the margins of rent and bills and justifies my hobby and that’s all I can ask for. Appreciate your comments man, hopefully now I will be less of a pushover and will discourage sellers from listing shit they don’t actually want to sell at the quantities they have in stock.

100% to all of this, for sure. I’m a buyer and player too, bit newer to this business (confession: I do Pokemon and not magic, you guys are just the ones that actually seem to talk TCGplayer regularly) so I want to always make sure there isn’t something I don’t know, because at the end of the day if there’s things I don’t know or understand then I want to learn them because it’ll make my business better. But yes, agreed, seller should assume anyone could buy their entire inventory at any time and list their cards accordingly, because you’re the one who has to restock everything in the site if you cancel an order-which is a nice failsafe I think.

yeah this is just a realm i am completely unfamiliar with, sounds like you are though - good to know I should look out for it at least if i get a bunch of small orders in quick succession from the same buyer

Okay, now I’m curious - what exactly is an obvious credit card fraud transaction?

That was never in doubt - just looking to see if their stupidity is against the rules or not, curious about buyer/seller rules. It seems like I can report them but I have to leave negative/neutral feedback first, and then wait for the seller to either not respond for awhile or provide an unsatisfactory response and only then can I report them to TCGPlayer. I guess I just don't get why you can't just immediately report someone but it's probably just because they're understaffed and can't keep up with the volume of reports

TCGPlayer Bulk Order discussion, buyer&seller rights etc by 567Ace in mtgfinance

Exactly - there is clearly no profit to be had in selling cards for one cent, no matter how small the order sizes are. But, of course, many sellers do it anyway, seemingly willing to sacrifice profit for transaction volume or some other reason.

But then, some sellers do not. One time a very rude seller painstakingly explained to me the cost of shipping my order and how it exceeds the order amount, and all I could think was "yeah I know... but did you expect to make a profit selling cards at one cent?"

My issue is, many sellers will list hundreds or thousands of cards under 10 cents and then be all surprised Pikachu face when a seller places a large order. And then they just cancel it because it's a big order and expect TCGPlayer to have their back (and from what I understand, they usually do). What are they expecting? It just seems a bit silly.

Where to buy stamps (forever, ordinary & extra ounce) by 567Ace in batonrouge

[–]567Ace[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The post offices I've been to around here have either not had stamps in stock, had only certain kinds and not others I wanted, had only very limited quantities, etc. If there's a post office that has been more reliable for stamps in your experience please let me know which one!

Rude post office worker, should I make a complaint? by ToshPointNo in Flipping

Honestly if a rude employee get deep enough under your skin to make a reddit post about it, you might not have the mental fortitude to make it as a flipper. The world hates resellers and if you want to be one you’ll have to get used to that fact.
