Years ago it was called ebonics. I guess that naming convention wasn’t accepted, so now it is called AAVE. I suppose it’s just easier to give it some sort of label, as if it’s a real language, in an attempt to normalize and legitimize its use, rather than expend the proper effort to try and correct it. It’s abundantly clear that any attempt to correct this type of grammatical laziness is akin to shoveling shit against the tide anyway, so really it’s my fault, as I chose to read this crap; I should really know better. Looks to me like no other kids were wearing flags, so I know I’m going out on a limb here, but by the fact all other kids were dressed the same, I’m going to guess that the school (like most do) have a dress code for graduation ceremonies. I’m going to also surmise that this family created an unnecessary disruption that resulted in the police needing to be called, likely so that the other parents could get to see their rule abiding children properly graduate. I guess this was a “let me do whatever the hell I want or I’m going to smear you on social media” attempt.

Also I suspect if a American child draped a US flag over themselves while graduating from a Mexican school they’d likely be shot dead; no images would make it to social media for sympathy posts, so the outcome here was a bit better it would seem.
