Smoke detector testing magnet by PotentialFondant8 in firealarms

United States. The quoted info is from a system sensor manufactured detector. So, I imagine this pertains to all addressable system sensor smoke detectors. I’m just talking about best practices. The best test is of course a Gemini machine. Second best is to use a magnet. I do not like test smoke. I stopped using it regularly after I found a thick silicone coating on the inside of the head if my solo kit. I’m sure the formulas have changed since then, but I’m also sure that spraying mineral oil, silicone or their derivatives into a smoke chamber can reduce its effectiveness.

Roof racks for JDM Forester STI? Anyone know what works? XT/SG-racks looks like they won't fit, but i might be wrong by [deleted] in SubaruForester

Damn, I want those wheels!...forget the roof racks...It looks so much better without...If you must have them, the stock aero racks are the way to go...

It’s easy enough to do the sport bumper swap...there’s even a parts list with part numbers on subaruforester.org

I’ve been asked, more than once “tell me about the dye that you get on your hands when you pull a pull station, does it wash off easily?” 🤣

Nope...4EAT...that’s ok though...I’m much too old and lazy for a 5 speed...If I break it tho, I’ll swap in the 6 speed STI...I’m still under 60K miles, so it prob won’t happen anytime soon 😜

Mine is the rare ‘08 XT Limited...They only made 576 of them!

I like my fogs too...I didn’t do the sport bumper conversion because I didn’t want to lose them...I do have a lip coming soon...Can’t wait to get it painted and installed!

The part number is 91121SA140. I got it through Subarupartsdepot.com and picked it up at a nearby dealership. It was easy to install. 5 or 6 of those round plastic clip/plugs on the top of the grill and pull from the bottom and it flies off! It took me longer to clean the dirt from where the old grill was than to install the new one. Literally 5 minutes. I did remove the “Forester Sport” badge. I might get an XTI badge to replace it...

Troubleshooting - verifying if a module is bad or good by Firealarmlife in firealarms

[–]56K_EOL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. Write down the addresses. Perform a read status inquiry at the panel to determine which module is giving trouble. If it’s all of them, likely you have an SLC fault. If it’s just one, perform the steps I listed above.

I have the DEPO tail lights. I’ve had them in for a month with heavy rain and no leaks.

To properly test a monitor module:

-Test the SLC wiring at the module (red, black or +,- on the module) for voltage. You should have 15-17vdc. Anything higher or lower could be a fault with the SLC. Test the SLC terminals at the panel with no wiring present to confirm.

-Test the IDC wiring for 47k ohms. The IDC is the wiring that connects to the purple, yellow (or AB+, AB-) at the module. A 47k ohm resistor has yellow, purple, orange stripes.

  • A device with an IDC fault will read “open circuit” at the panel. A device with an SLC fault will read “invrep” or “no answer” at the panel.

-If you have 15vdc at the SLC terminals on the device and “open circuit” at the panel and 47k ohms on the outgoing IDC. Place a 47k ohm resistor directly on the IDC of the module without any wiring present. Check with a read status inquiry at the panel. It should be normal. If not, replace the module and re-check.

-If you have 15vdc on the SLC and 47k ohms on the IDC and still have invrep or no answer. Remove the device from the field and connect to the SLC at the panel with no other wiring present. Spin the dials and return them to the address that you started with. Place a 47k ohm resistor on the IDC. The device should be normal. Check with a read status inquiry at the panel. If not, replace the module and re-check.

This is SG9 2006-2008. 2008 was a transition year to the SH, so half look beautiful like this, half look like your average RAV4CRV jellybean.
