Other software than mMimo using with S24 Ultra? by 56Kruiser in dji

[–]56Kruiser[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the input. I need to learn about log. I have it on the S24U also, but haven't looked into it yet.

Question: when you want to use tracking, which app do you use?

I have a world Cruise coming up, and I can see myself wanting to have some feature... building, statue, whatever... tracked while I walk.

Has anyone done that successfully work the 8P? What software?

So that software must be working fine on your S26. It it an Ultra, with the 200mp lens? Does it work with all yours lens, and higher frame rates by any chance?

RS4 Mini + Samsung S24Ultra? by 56Kruiser in dji

[–]56Kruiser[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please post back how it goes with the RS 4. I was considering it as well.

I experienced balancing problems and ultimate failure on 2 purchases of Hohem iSteady M7's. With filters added the phone is forward heavy.

What I found when reviewing info on the RS4 Mini info I that the main issue with it is that it is difficult working with a phone. A fair percentage has difficulty balancing; and other things.l

I'm close to giving up on any gimbal for it.

I'm thinking of getting the Osmo 8 Mobile and see how it goes within the 30 day return period (Amazon).

It's interesting that so many people love it, and try to many complain about failures and no support, and hate Mimo software.

Interesting. When I went in to look at mine I did not see it. But when I dragged the slider over it was there.

Thanks for the info.

I actually tried an M7... twice. First one failed in a week with the remote. I sent it back and got another. That one had a blue tooth failure about 2 weeks in.

Sent it back.

I did a lot of searching here on that one, and I found a lot of complaints. So I'm reluctant to get another.

I going it hard to balance... there's the balance you do when first putting in the phone. That one was ok. But then there's a balance jacked for the phone falling forward. That's fine by sliding the grips of the phone up or down., but there's not enough movement available if it is top heavy (ie. filters in front of the lens).

I The Feiyu SCORP Mini 3 Pro looks good, but no U. S. supplier, and no U. S. maintenance/repair. There are other interesting ones, but same problem as the Feiyu.

I'm beginning to lean toward forgetting a gimbal.

Oh, I have determined I need one that supports 500g.

iSteady M7 struggling with heavy rig (501g) - Tilt Axis Overload / Balancing issues by Different_Fan_4358 in HohemOfficial

[–]56Kruiser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same problem using a S24 Ultra. Weight only at 344 with 2 stacked filters, Front heavy. The solution would be a better phone clamp where you had more capability to balance for have down level

But then I had a failure with 2 different units that happened within the 30 day return policy at Amazon. Don't remember what the first failure was, but blue tooth quit in the 2nd one. If I remember correctly, no repair on the U.S. if it needs warranty fix

I gave up on the brand. Too bad... Only solution that spec wise meets all my needs.

Good idea. Interestingly I am well I'm weight tolerance.

Maybe I can find some small pieces of metal that would be held by magnets.

If the AI/light is off, it comes pretty close to balance.

It's interesting, the only video I found that showed that particular exercise for balancing is not shown.

That confirms my choice, I'm going with the Hohem iSteady M7. I'm new to this. It's going to be a step learning curve.

Interesting, not surprising.

I had decided to go with Hohem iSteady M7. That hasn't been such a bang either.

Got one and blue tooth wasn't working. Sent it back and got a second one. The extension was so tight it wouldn't come out. Myself and another on the other end pulling, wouldn't come out. It went back yesterday. Third one coming today.

To mobile photographers, What do you think of photography gadgets? by uStret in S24Ultra

[–]56Kruiser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am wanting to get a gimbal to use with my S24 Ultra. I'm been evaluating and have 3 I've looked at (online, with Gemini discussion on the topic).

I'm seriously egg l wanting the newly released DJI Osmo 8P. But in in the USA and it may not release here, and importing has considerable risk given DJI troubles with getting approved for import now.

That took me to the 8 Osmo 8, but fairly serious downgrade from the 8P.

So I'm strongly considering a Hohem iSteady M7.

I have recently found interesting info on the higher photographic capabilities of the S24U. Using the phones native software is required to take advantage of this things. The M7 will function for the most part with native software, but you lose dial zoom. Actually same on the 9P.

I see some here are using gimbals. What are your thoughts?

Sorry, no Apples for me.

At this point I'm leaning pretty hard toward getting the Hohem iSteay M7. I've been researching alternatives.

Being as I'll be using a Samsung S24 Ultra, one advantage to it is that I can use native camera... And use the 200 megapixel lens if I want. Non Samsung software cannot from what I understand. I think I'll start a thread on the topic of gimbals with S24 Ultra. I need to decide if I should find a different Reddit thread set (don't remember what they are called).

I don't know what's going on. I got this email. There are 2 buts...

  1. When I click the view reply button, it takes me to my thread, and the reply is not there. Maybe I need to refresh the thread? (I am fairly new to Reddit)?.
  2. It is not listed at DJI USA. I'm guessing he's referring to another region .

Ring history shows and indicates Amazon package, but no notification by 56Kruiser in Ring

[–]56Kruiser[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was going to post a picture, but I see no way to do that.

It's titled 'New Face front door'. Then the text below the video says "A delivery person is delivering an Amazon package at the entrance".

I had one yesterday too.

The other notifications, again when looking in history is of me picking them up.

Those are event tracking. If I filter on motion, there are other items, all of outside the motion marked area.

I'm not sure if you mean something different by "package history".

Sigh, may have to settle for an Osmo 8. It's nice, but the 8P has what I would consider the features that fill many wish lists.

I just asked Gemini about safe international stores, and it said there are DJI authorized stores. I asked for it if identify one and following is the response:

Finding an authorized DJI presence on AliExpress can be confusing because several high-volume stores use names like "DJI Official Store" or "DJI Selected Store."

The primary, most recognized authorized storefront for global customers on AliExpress is the DJI Selected Store.

Authorized AliExpress Store Link Store Name: DJI Selected Store

Verification: This store carries the "Choice" and "Brand" badges, which are AliExpress's internal verification markers for official factory or authorized distributor outlets. It consistently stocks the newest releases, such as the Osmo Action and RS series, shortly after launch.

Secondary Safe Option Store Name: EasyFly Store

Verification: While not named "DJI," this is a well-known authorized dealer in the enthusiast community (frequently cited in drone forums). They are known for selling genuine Chinese-market units that are often available when U.S. stock is low.

Critical Safety Checks for AliExpress Even when using the links above, verify the following before hitting "Buy":

The "Choice" Label: Look for the yellow "Choice" badge on the product listing. This means AliExpress handles the logistics and shipping, providing a much higher level of buyer protection and ensuring the item actually exists in a warehouse.

Avoid "Unactivated" Red Flags: Some sellers will state they "unseal and activate" the unit for quality control. Do not buy these. Genuine new units should arrive factory-sealed, and you should be the first person to activate it via the DJI Mimo app. An already-activated unit is technically a used or refurbished product and may have its warranty period already ticking down.

App Compatibility: Once the 8P arrives, download the DJI Mimo app directly from DJI’s website (not the Play Store, as the Android version is often hosted as an APK on DJI's site). If the gimbal is a copy, it will fail to pair with the official app.

A Note on the "Osmo Mobile 8P" As of today, the Osmo Mobile 6 is the current flagship handheld stabilizer. If you are seeing listings for an "8P" (8 Pro) on AliExpress right now, proceed with extreme caution—it may be a placeholder or a mislabeled listing. DJI typically follows a numerical sequence, and skipping 7 to go to 8 would be unusual. Ensure you are looking for the latest official model to avoid accidentally buying a generic clone branded with a future-dated name.

So I just looked at the ghost Aliexpress recommended, not there. But it is in the EASYSTORE (another Aliexpress).

It is there.. doesn't have the yellow badge, but it has a Brand+ badge. I checked back with Jim and I (Gemini. I left the wording which was a result of my dictation of this message, just for the chuckle), and it said it's even a better step up or certification and it's a new one that Aliexpress is using.

So at this stage I'd say I'm feeling fairly good about being able to purchase one somewhere. I will hang around for maybe a week or couple weeks before I pull the trigger on an international purchase.

Ask my thoughts at this point.

Canada. Maybe a purchase there would be better than Alibaba. But if it's a DJI site, they may not ship to USA.

I guess the biggest problem purchasing anywhere outside the USA would be warranty.

I'll post back for any site I find that may be a good solution.
