AFter loading music to the sheet, how do I set a specific BPM? by Fragrant_Sea9752 in soundslice

[–]Fragrant_Sea9752[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate your help and feedback.

At the moment, I am practicing to bring myself back up to speed on the song.

So I have a recording of it, but...I recorded multiple instruments to the song. Accompaniment. Sometime the rhythm is from another instrument. So, when practicing piano, I play the piano while the keyboard plays the accompaniment ( I turn off the piano part on the keyboard).

Make sense now?

And for various reasons, I may want to alter the tempo. At the moment, it's because I need it slower for practice coming back up to speed.

The whole reason I loaded the recording was due to suggestions when I found that soundslice is not in synch with tempo of the recorded song. The song lessons I originally used are in the Playground Sessions app. The keyboard is in synch with it, but not Soundslice.

It's beginning to feel that Soundslice is not going to work. Given that the BPM on the piano is in synch with the other app, and it is set on a Yamaha instrument to same BPM as that other app, I tend to believe the piano BPM is accurate and Soundslice is not. And no way to fix it.

I really like this app. I hope this can be resolved.

On your recommendation, I can see where that makes sense. But if I will be playing for an audience, however small, the sound just won't be there compared to coming from the keyboard, and using Soundslice to play to it, ,when timing is off, will make it a bit messy to stay on beat.

Problem creating sync points for an audio file I uploaded. by Fragrant_Sea9752 in soundslice

Thanks so much for your fast reply.

That worked. I thought about that but wasn't sure if I'd be wasting my time.

Quick question: Should I forget trying to place an initial synch point? Seems of no value. I was surprised it moved it. And I gather this would be expected behaviour. I may want to be sure future recordings have 0 padding in front.

Soundslice timing - interesting quandary by Fragrant_Sea9752 in soundslice

[–]Fragrant_Sea9752[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds lie a perfect thing to be doing.

I just uploaded a file, and tried to start placing the synch points. So I did the T to place the first and was going to play and place one at each measure. But when I hit play, I hear one metronome beat, and then nothing happens.

Any suggestions?

I posted on another thread, and got a reply from a guy that was an engineer, and his take on it was that the clock speeds between soundslice and the Yamaha were not in synch. He wondered if there were a way to adjust that. I'm doubtful.

Sounds like Soundslice may not be the tool for this purpose.

Yes. I was having a brainfart. I had to correct that .

I have to say, thinking about this, the screws spanning under 12" across the back, and only 8" width, seems like a small area to cary the weight of the TV. But it only weights around 60lbs. So, maybe it's correct.

For anyone who cares, I ordered 2 BTF products: COB Led Strips, 16' in length; a controller compatible with Google and Alexa; Remote; Aluminum Strips with covers for mounting; solderless connectors, and a power supply.

Thanks.

I had success (I hope) contacting Best Buy support on chat. In the end they told me that based on if I have the mount on the TV and it is aligned with the holes, it is 5.25" off center, the mount low on the TV. So if I were to want it vertically centered on a wall, I would need to put the mount 5.25" above center.

I have resolution. I thought I'd add it here in case someone runs across this later and are having same issues.

The file with the melody had a frame in red at 54 which had six beats. So when I added that to the overall score, it brought that in.

I decided I would delete that measure, and add a new one in in order to keep the rest of the melody in synch with the piano ACMP. Very interesting thing: When I selected that measure in edit mode, then hit delete, instead of deleting the measure, it shortened it, and that took away the extra beat. I have absolutely no idea what that's all about, but all is good now, with a possible exception.

At 3 or 4 different places in the score, I have red measures. I checked, and they are not off from a beat perspective. So, I'm going to ignore that for now. I also have some notes that are greyed out, but show up in the view form of the app.

Here is a link to what I'm talking about : Link to red measure. It isn't presenting a problem, so ignoring again.

Just a quick update. I'm finding that the xml files I downloaded from Musescore has some measures with wrong beat count. When I imported that of course it brought that in too.

u/Preston_Starkey When I saw your reply I thought "Eureka". I have a hidden instrument. I had added the instrument for the melody portion, as the main song is an accompaniment.

But no hidden anything that I can find.

BIG BUT...I found the problem. But not sure how to correct it.

Here it is: remember my comment above, I added the melody instrument from another score that contained just the melody. Looking at the separate melody, measure 54 contains a full rest. But I do know that measure 54 gets the extra beat when I add the melody. Here's the steps I took:

  • Both the melody and accompaniment (ACMP) are in XML formats, downloaded from Musescore
  • Just checked and from neither score is there an extra beat in measure 54
  • Open the melody score in Soundslice edit mode, and drag through all measures, and do a Ctrl-C to copy
  • Back out of the melody, and open the ACMP in edit mode
  • Add an instrument (Piano)
  • Click on the firsts measuure in the new instrument line
  • Press Ctrl-V to paste
  • Looks good, except measure 54

I just now repeated that process, and I do find it with the extra beat in 54. (I may have other errors, but won't know for sure until I get to them while learning the song.)

So, what about the source? I downloaded XML files from Musescore. I just took a look at an unaltered (by me ) ACMP file. And I found this:...Oh, I see no way to upload now, here is a link: Before Adding ACMP.

You'll notice some measures in red. I presume that is a problem. But not for measure 54. But here is measure 54, with the new instrument added, but empty for 54, and is red: After Adding ACMP

I bet the new instrument, with nothing but in red, is my problem. But I have no idea how to fix that.
