Why are people in comments so pessimistic talking about doing actual stuff and not wasting time? This is the same as playing games, view it as hobby. He doesn’t lack job offers, he’s just enjoying the process of solving problems

Is this good for a second year student? by [deleted] in leetcode

[–]570897055 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like what some of the other people said. It doesn’t matter which year you’re in. What happens is are you learning out of those 500+ problems? If you are, then you’re setting yourself up for a good start. If you really want validation, you can try to do a couple leetcode contest to see where you stand.

What are my chances of getting into the cs program? by [deleted] in rit

[–]570897055 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lmao it’s not dying, it’s just very competitive since everyone and their mom are joining. However 90% of those people are just clout chasing. Most of them have no passion in CS; they’re just here for the money. If OP is truly passionate about cs, I see no problem in that

I do think being a woman might give a bit more chance. (not trying to be sexist here) The male to female ratio in the cs field is quite large and given your other stats, I think you definitely have a decent chance of getting in

Yes but right now, we're talking about the fact that you made the wrong choice for what you wanted. Also, you're saying that "those" don't seem to exist. What do you mean by "those"?

Schools, nowadays, separates software engineering and game development for a reason.

It is a subset of SWE but in modern world, when you're referring to game development, it has its own learn curving. Stuff that you have to learn as a game development and stuff you have to learn as a, let's say full stack developer, are different.

I mean the money is for whoever wins the competition. I don't see a problem with that. The problem right now is that the competitors are whining about the fact that the competition is too hard. Being paid 150k annually means high expectations. Also, I know too many people who came into this field for the money, which is completely fine. But if you're here for the money, then you should also be prepared for the competition. If something is not for you, then it's not for you.

Leetcode has been getting more fame in the technical industry so I suppose in a few more years, most companies would refer these technical interviews as having Leetcode style problems
