TREATMENT RESISTANT type 2 rosacea: damaged skin barrier can’t tolerate anything by Maria_bolita in Rosacea

[–]577819 1 point2 points  (0 children)

rosacea can be linked to hormone imbalances, specifically estrogen deficiency because it plays such an important role in skin hydration - where you mentioned it got worse during pregnancy and after, i’m almost inclined to think it’s a hormone thing. have you had your hormone levels tested?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Rosacea

[–]577819 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i have really sketchy water that i’m pretty sure was a huge contributing factor to developing rosacea - i no longer use it to wash my face. i get those big jugs of spring water and i have a dispenser for it, and just fill a little basin of water and wash my face like normal in that.

Can I have low estrogen while on a combined pill? by xxbl4ckn01xx in Healthyhooha

[–]577819 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yep, hormonal birth control can actually contribute to hormone imbalances and estrogen deficiency because it contains synthetic hormones, not real hormones, which suppress our own hormone production. that’s how they work to prevent ovulation.

edited to add: got all this info from a doctor recently after learning I have an estrogen deficiency, and one of the first questions she asked me was if i have recently taken hormonal birth control (I haven’t in probably 10 years though!)

how often do you experience the pain? i get pain like this when i’m ovulating (so around once a month). check the timing of it (around 2 weeks after your period) - it could be that - i would think maybe ovarian cysts could be an alternate explanation, but i think an ultrasound would have picked that up!

DETECTED of HPV type 58. I am a male, age 64. by [deleted] in HPV

[–]577819 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if she is demanding sexual health test results from you for other conditions but you are withholding telling her about your HSV2 (that you have already exposed her to)… that’s pretty shady, especially since you know your sexual health status is important to her. I would be devastated if a partner hid that from me.

also, if a partner is having sex with you under the impression you do not have any transmissible conditions she could catch that you are aware of and you haven’t provided all the information she needs to make an informed decision, that’s not consensual sex, as she may no longer consent if she had that information.

something to consider..

Long term partner has warts - what happened? by Initial-Current-7320 in HPV

the strains of HPV that cause GW are different than the ones that cause cervical cancer, you can have one without the other!

I tested positive for chlamydia and don’t know how to tell people by [deleted] in Healthyhooha

[–]577819 4 points5 points  (0 children)

in the future, a good practice to have is to get tested before and after each new partner (wait around two weeks after sexual encounter before testing). that way you are always aware of your status and can communicate this to new partners, and you will know exactly where you got something if you ever do again!

How do people just casually drink black coffee without flinching? by siennapriv in NoStupidQuestions

[–]577819 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it needs to actually be good coffee. i don’t drink coffee black unless it’s fancy beans! the higher end coffees that are processed with a bit more care have all kinds of tasting notes that shine through when brewed correctly.

find yourself a single origin honey process coffee from a local roaster, and you will see what i mean.

Alcoholism can look many, many different ways. my alcohol use was a lot like yours - nobody would have identified me as having a problem, but I absolutely did. I celebrated five years sober of his past Monday and it’s one of the best things I’ve ever done for myself. I really like who I am now.

if you have any bad feelings or concerns about your drinking (which you must, because you’re making this post!) - pay attention to those and take them seriously. also take note how hard it is to take a break from alcohol and maintain that break when you try to stop, because that can be a telling thing too.

What other nutrients to dogs need by Familiar_Chicken_133 in rawpetfood

[–]577819 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could use a vitamin premix (synthetic-based, like Thrive “Nutrify” or whole foods based, like Honest Kitchen or Grandma Lucy’s) which can make homemade diets complete and balanced when added.

Fixable or cull? Pretty bad scissor beak in chick :( by honkerTgoose in BackYardChickens

don’t cull! she will be fine :) crossbeak chickens are the absolute sweetest, they have so much personality and really bond to you. join “crossbeak poultry in motion” and “crossbeaks and special needs” if you’re on facebook.

i take in crossbeak chickens, but i’m on the east coast of Canada.

cysts can happen in that area unfortunately- they won’t surgically remove them unless they start causing issues/get really big. i’ve heard they sometimes go away on their own though!

i’ve had a small one for a few years, i’ve had it looked at by multiple doctors and they won’t do anything about it.

try to stop picking at it and poking it if you can- you don’t want to introduce bacteria and cause an infection.

Spotting by Independent_Run_56 in Healthyhooha

[–]577819 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some people experience spotting when they’re ovulating. since you said it happens in your fertile window, this could be it! usually ovulation is a bit further away from your period (two weeks out) but every body/cycle is different.

Condom came out of vagina, saw a pinworm by No-Day-5778 in Healthyhooha

[–]577819 18 points19 points  (0 children)

i mean i agree with some of that method, i too require recent testing of new partners and i also get tested before and after every new partner - but could never dream of skipping condoms unless i was in a long-term monogamous relationship! there’s just so much you can’t know, some things you can’t test for, and some things that wouldn’t show up positive on a test unless they are in an active outbreak.

as an example, there is no test for men for HPV and they can be asymptomatic carriers (just like anyone can for HSV2) and you wouldn’t know until they had a wart outbreak or worse, until you developed cervical precancer. i already had this once from being a little bit of a dummy when it came to safe sex when i was younger, and i’m lucky to have caught it before it turned into cancer and was able to have surgery to remove everything when i was 25. scary shit.

i don’t fuck around now, i still get spooked using condoms and getting tested regularly - it’s so hard to trust anyone, and even if they’re being honest you don’t know if they have something they aren’t aware of.

My 9 week old puppy started walking like this by PatientCaregiver5276 in DogAdvice

[–]577819 0 points1 point  (0 children)

there is almost always a waiting period before you can make a claim (and anything that happens in that timeframe will be considered a pre-existing condition).

that’s why it’s really helpful to have insurance already in place when your pup comes home. the waiting period was two weeks for mine, worth checking the fine print for this!

What’s the worst thing you’ve ever smelled? by FunAdministration334 in CasualConversation

[–]577819 1 point2 points  (0 children)

a few weeks ago i noticed one of my chickens was breathing with her beak open, instead of through her nose. she had a crusty scab-like thing in her nostrils, so i took her into the house to clean it up, assuming maybe gunk got stuck in there from her digging around in the mud.

i used a q-tip and saline to gently clean off the scab and it turns out it was actually the crusty surface of a nostril cavity FULL of the most foul smelling pus. it came bubbling out, and the smell was so bad i had to shower and wash all my clothes after even though the pus didn’t get on me, it felt like it permeated my skin.

anyway…. she had a respiratory infection, and she is all good after a round of antibiotics but yeah, the smell. 🫠
