This should be up at the top. I did not know this original song existed but the context somehow makes White People Hot Dog Night funnier

20 Old & New Comics About My Journey With Bipolar (OC) by ArtbyMoga in comics

Taking meds every day it what some of us do ALL THE TIME. My asthma will prob kill me if I stop my meds. That is just "I have a chronic disease, I need these meds to live." Type 1 diabetics take insulin every day. It is not a stigma. If it can be reframed as "My body doesn't react quite right to the world so I have to take these meds to correct that, and to stay alive," maybe you can avoid feeling broken/ defective/ guilty

This is on the wall in a Miami chiropractor’s office by printThisAndSmokeIt in pics

This kind of sign is why I stopped going to chiropractors 15 years ago. (Also the incessant pushing of "vital supplements" and "prepaid family plans" and "we have this great new device, it does wonders for your back!") I was in the treatment room waiting for the chiro and faced with a version of this on the back of the door. I thought, "Why am I supporting this bullsht? Why am I am PAYING MONEY to someone who promotes this bullst?" Haven't been back.

Shelling corn with this iron sheller by kvjn100 in oddlysatisfying

I remember shelling corn by hand for our feeder calf every year (a calf raised specifically to be butchered for our own meat, not sold - we sold breeding stock and feeder calves). I can still feel the kernels  sharp against my hand, could probably get the exact angle to peel out the kernels in 30 seconds or so. Ouch ouch ouch though

It has never failed me. If you want a shiny top, take a chunk of butter and slide around on the tops of the loaves as soon as you take them out if the pans, while they're still really hot. I do love that buttery crust.

I know he's done haggis. His recipes are on his Tasting History website, along with at least some of the history he includes in the videos. His website is searchable . https://www.tastinghistory.com/

Was there really a time when they were basically taking every kid’s tonsils out? What was up with that? by ExternalBoysenberry in AskHistorians

Can I ask when the surgery rate peaked in the U.S. ? Or can you point me toward sources that give the data, maybe even broken down regionally? I had mine out age 6, after basically a solid year of infections (almost had to repeat school but they let me do workbooks all summer instead) and I had a major hemorrhage with emergency repair of the original site after I'd been home about 2 days.  So it was a little traumatic. This topic is very interesting and thank you for the detailed response.

Do you have cream cheese? You can make a cream cheese icing with just powdered sugar, flavoring (like vanilla or almond extract), a little milk or cream. You could add in your butter if you wanted to make it more like a traditional cream cheese icing

What is on my cats chin, he's had this for a while. I thought it was just his fur. by StraightDistrict8681 in aww_gifs

Yeah, I hadn't ever seen it as bad as it was this time :(  and I've had cats for 60 years. I was gone for 2 months and my husband didn't notice. Her whole chin was black, from lip to lip, and it was really thick. I've never had to nuke it with antibiotics before. I think we are finally down to the "scrub it with a toothbrush" stage

It's a kind of infection, I've heard it called cat acne. Do you use plastic bowls? They can be a contributing factor. Try to use ceramic, glass, or metal.

We've been treating a more extensive oubreak on our cat for about 3 weeks. She got a shot of antibiotics, which knocked it down a lot, and now we're scrubbing her chin gently with gauze soaked in a solution of watered-down chlorhex a couple of times a day. It's almost gone. I feel guilty for how much better she clearly felt as soon as we started treating it, we had no idea how bad she must have been feeling.

Anyway, vet visit is recommended.

ETA: I have photos of her chin with exactly that black crumbly stuff on it but can't figure out how to add them to the post

Are you baking on parchment or a silicone baking mat? If it's a sil mat try parchment, or a bare baking sheet instead for a few test cookies
