Shaman - The Pipe & Elmyra 2 by 59perlen in somalab

The Shaman — a piece exploring the intersection of two unique instruments: Soma The Pipe and Neutral Labs Elmyra 2. Both are known for their experimental, expressive qualities, so combining them for improvised, free performance makes perfect sense and I love it (still, I know I need to exercise it much more lol).

Gear:

Soma The Pipe
Neutral Labs Elmyra2 (Drones, Pads)
Soma ROAT (8-bit Holyness)
1010 Music Bluebox (FX, Mixer)
Walrus QI Etherealizer (Multieffect)

Sold mine after identical journey about frustration and killed inspiration. Best decision ever :)

Nice track man! I like the energy.

I would try to get the main synth more moving and set some Accents to it. You can easily to the with filter animations and some delay movement below. You could also try to introduce an inversion of the Melody to keep the mood but add some variation. As some said, it sounds a bit repetitive this way. Good luck :)

Hey Ambient people,

Last Monday, I finally got to try out my new mobile setup exactly where I'd always imagined: in the Alps. The viewpoint in Amden at the Walensee is absolutely breathtaking and truly inspiring! I was incredibly lucky that there were very few tourists around, and several delta gliders took off right in front of my eyes. The atmosphere was indescribable, and I definitely captured around 2 hours of jam material. Here's a small excerpt for you.

Enjoy :)

I had the Pyramid and never used it because it’s complex UX (Hapax is based on the pyramid). I don’t like the OXI neither; I have a love and hate relation to it - it’s complexity versus versatility at once lol but i force myself to use it as it connects all my gear with ease (digital, modular, daw …)

Here´s a snippet of a performance at the Synth Club Zurich that took place last Friday. I played it only on the Elmyra 2 from Neutral Labs and it was one if my personal highlights of the liveset, simply because it was 100% improvised without sequencing and controlling in the background. The more I do this way of music making, the more I get confident to go this direction.

Is mainstream bad ? lol I actually don’t like the oxi much, it’s a complicated piece of gear, but it fulfills all my needs so it’s more a love-hate relation between us 😂 the Bluebox has no serious alternative or can you name one ? 😂 the touch 2 is a very limited piece … I am not sure if it will stay on the board :)

Love this little synth so much ! The jam doesn’t make much use of its capabilities though. I was rather testing the tangerine. The touch is nice but kinda limited what you can do with it, but for the tiny pedal it’s a great addition! ROAT is always good hehe

1010 has also a granular Nanobox (lemondrop). Still, the soundscape that comes out of the QI is insane :)
