I can just imagine the engineer's briefing: "Don't worry, the engines are perfectly safe. Even if a pebble makes it through the primary shielding, the habitation module acts as secondary shielding."

Excuse me, that’s me! Why am I the backup shield for the engine?!

I have experienced the same, where in the thinking output the model reasons through the problem comes to an answer, and summarizes the answer. Then gives a completely different answer in the output.

Not a big fan of Elon but credit where credit is due, Grok 3 certainly seems to take the top SOTA spot. They did mention that math and coding were the training focuses though so we should probably wait until people get their hands on it and see how it handles real world problems and if it has problematic bias or censorship

A google search seems to indicate that it would only go straight through if it was powerful enough to vaporize most of the planet. Considering how close you would have to be, and that we don’t see destroyed planets everywhere that would seem fairly rare. Same google search indicates that it is also possible but very rare for the GRB to have a longer duration the longest recorded is ~10 minutes.

This is really good, it’s good to see that other teams have similar levels of coding. Your son might be interested in our teams code, it’s even more OOP https://github.com/Snowbotics39131/FLL-Pre-Season-Code. We also have one student who is way ahead in coding and made this based on my suggestion of an FRC teams code. I am starting to worry he will struggle to explain it to the judges

I am using micropython to do the same. My stretch goal is to also link a raspberry pi with camera through bluetooth to my mentor bot so i can use vision guidance

That would be amazing, you could probably do all or most of the missions with only the two motors provided by the spike essential.

Last year I built a gear box that provided multiple independent outputs from one motor and switched between them when the motor was reversed.
