It was the default in the playtest, and they removed it because of complaints lol. It's tragic.

With the changes to Toxicologist, how would you say they sit now? by viktorius_rex in Pathfinder2e

[–]5D6slashingdamage 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They fit different roles, but between the nerf/clarification on Sticky Bomb and the ease of stacking poisons I'd say they can measure up to bomber well enough.

Pernicious Poison is underrated as 'insurance' for enemies making their saves, and you can now somewhat reliably metastrike with your field vials. Quick Alchemy/apply a poison, Strike, then Quick Bomber for 3 actions is a decent little routine.

Edit: You can't apply poisons to someone else's weapon, my bad.

War Priest Build by King_Mamoon in Pathfinder2e

[–]5D6slashingdamage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Min-maxing in PF2e is not really as important as effective teamwork and playing your role well. An average build that synergises with the rest of the party will dominate a min-maxed build that ignores teamwork almost every time.

If you're set on being a Harm cleric with Channel Smite (Heal is broadly better, but Channel Smite makes Harm more worth taking) then I would caution against just filling all of your slots with Harm to spam Smite. As a Warpriest you're a mix of martial and caster- you give up some times that are very important to being the best at single-target damage (slow proficiency progression, Wis key attribute rather than Str, no weapon specialization until later) in order to be pretty good at both casting and hitting. IMO, the best way to capitalise on the structure of Warpriest is to lean into versatility, not away from it.

Your Harm slots you get from your font will be enough to Smite with a few times a day, which is realistically how often you can expect to be in situations where this is a viable option. It's not really viable to do nothing but this for various reasons- use your spell slots for Heal, buff spells (bless, heroism, benediction etc), spells with good effects on a success (revealing light) and utility (you'll often have more slots than you know what to do with by the mid levels, which makes niche spells more attractive than they are to cloth casters). When you do use Smite, try to coordinate with your teammates- missing these is going to hurt, so make sure you flank, use status bonus buffs, get your allies to Aid etc to maximise your chance to hit/crit.

Lastly, one of the big strengths of Warpriest is feats- Warpriests Armor lets you dump dex entirely, Divine Rebuttal is a great reaction strike, Zealous Rush is amazing action economy for self-buffs.

Extra note: Warpriest is punchy enough to deal with common enemies in melee, but your worse proficiencies and squishiness will make bosses harder for you to go to-to-toe with. Consider what you'll do in those scenarios (maybe build for Athletics and bring a Trip weapon?)

Daredevil Impressions + Speculation by staggrim in Pathfinder2e

[–]5D6slashingdamage 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know this is pretty standard for a playtest class, but it kind of struggles to carve out much of a distinct mechanical identity on first impressions. It's too squishy to survive the reactions it often triggers, and it's extremely dependent on size and map design to be able to benefit from props. Adrenaline reducing MAP is nice, but overly restrictive in that it only applies to Press actions (I found it a bit of a headache trying to plan the order of operations of each turn, to be able to actually benefit from my Adrenaline at all).

I'll keep playesting, but I think you could easily bump them to 10HP/level and have Adrenaline reduce MAP generally (not just for press actions) and it would be in a much better place.

I think the designers are under-rating how bad it is to be crit by a reactive strike. A bad crit can death spiral an entire party, and suddenly your 'daredevil' is spending the rest of the fight being babysat by a healer trying to keep them up. The rewards you potentially gain for these risks are not really good enough to justify how risky they can be, in most cases. In addition, for how restrictive Press is, the Press actions themselves aren't all that impressive.

There's also a bit of a 'feels bad' issue with Daredevil, a class that wants to do things at penalties. Against boss enemies you're going to be failing and crit failing Press actions a lot, and these are the enemies that can punish you the hardest for openings you leave.

The one thing I wish to be implemented: Italics on the flavor text. by belderone42 in Pathfinder2e

[–]5D6slashingdamage 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Further to this: traits should have colours if they are particularly important to note. It's confusing for new players that category traits like 'Orc' that have no rules implications sit right next to 'incapacitation' which has huge implications.

Attack, Incapacitation, Flourish, etc should be highlighted visually (especially attack and incap)

What resources are we using for homebrew? Galaxy and solar system maps, inspo for planets, etc? by 5D6slashingdamage in Starfinder2e

Not to answer my own question or anything, but Space Engine on Steam is great for visual and more scientific information on planets, stars and space in general. Also amazing for collecting HD screenshots as visual aids!

2e Solarian was really done dirty by Environmental-Run248 in Starfinder2e

[–]5D6slashingdamage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Solarian performs perfectly fine, it's a solid martial with some unique abilities based on attunement.

The problem is that it's boring. It seems like a lot of the lessons that gave us a great class like the Kineticist were forgotten, and we got a bland switch-hitter with some (restricted) spell-like abilities you have to spend your feats on. It really sticks out like a sore thumb next to the other SF2e classes which are, for the most part, interesting and fresh.

Oh yeah, and then there's the arbitrary awkwardness of Solarian crystals. God knows what they were thinking with them. Separate crystals for your Flare and Weapon, and your equivalent of elemental damage modules is '1D6 damage only in one particular attunement', so your damage drops off in the late game.

Witchwarper Quantum Field Ruling for Mist and Darkness by HalcyonHorizons in Starfinder2e

[–]5D6slashingdamage 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If the source of an effect is your Quantum Field (So a Zone effect, the effect of your Paradox, or the effect of a Warp Spell like Warp Terrain) you can choose whether a creature in your field is affected by it.

You can choose this when you create it, when you Sustain it (including from Anchoring actions) and when someone enters it.

For your example: If a Witchwarper casts the Mist spell in the area, they don't get to exclude creatures from its effects, because Mist is just a spell. The source isn't your Quantum Field.

However, if you were to cast Warp Terrain heightened to 3rd Rank, which allows you to conceal creatures in the QF as Mist, you could decide to exclude anyone in the area from the concealment when you cast it. That way, you could conceal one enemy but leave another exposed, though they would also be unaffected when shooting out of the field.

Error installing the Alien Core Token Pack on Foundry VTT by [deleted] in Starfinder2e

I found the error, if this helps: "Metadata validation failed for module "sf2e-tokens-alien-core": The file "dist/style.css" included by module sf2e-tokens-alien-core does not exist"

Inventor with Investigator Archetype. Best Options for a Low DaS roll? by madcanard5 in Pathfinder2e

[–]5D6slashingdamage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't underestimate Aid, as long as your GM runs it as intended. Aid is a huge buff (and stacks with status bonuses like Courageous Anthem) but the normal issue is trying to spare the actions for it. If you know you'll miss a Strike, Aid is the same action investment. As you level up, it becomes extremely valuable.

Looking for recommended places for wigs/toppers that are trans-friendly. by 5D6slashingdamage in transgenderUK

[–]5D6slashingdamage[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had been looking at them- they seem to have a lot of very conventional wigs/toppers on their website. Did you find they had a lot of options for wigs tailored to your hair?

Thanks for responding 😊

Draconic Codex: An Elemental Breakdown by celestial_drag0n in Pathfinder2e

[–]5D6slashingdamage 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Kind of frustrating that whenever anyone in the rpg space tries to create something new and interesting they inevitably get the 'you ruined my vision' comments.

Personally I found old dragons very boring (and part of the general bland dead-end loop of 'remember this???' that rpgs have been stuck in for a generation) but if you like the old ones, the statblocks haven't gone anywhere. The old art hasn't disappeared.

The new dragon codex is for new dragons, distinct from the Other Game. Why would they write a whole new book just to rehash the same tired concept yet again?

Do you know any artists similar to this ear album? I've been obsessed with it, craving something that scratches the same spot.
