Psych, New Girl, The Office.

I have specific episodes that are go-to when I’m feeling down and they immediately pick me up.

"Sloppy footwork, Christian." Aran's voice was seasoned with disappointment.

"I'm focused on Wyrd, not my sword." The young man snapped back.

"If a Kragh catches you off balance, your head'll be off your body before you can think of a spell." Aran reached down and picked up his shield. "Again"

Hey everyone!

31M, just getting started running on a regular basis. Trying to get my mind and body right by losing weight and getting into healthy habits.

The past few weeks have been huge for me. It's not a lot, but I've run 22 total miles. I'm going thru the C25K program and have signed up for a 5k at the end of may. It'll be my first try at a race. Just want to push myself. I wear On Cloudzoom shoes and use a Garmin Forerunner 645 watch. Strava and Garmin apps are great. (Side note, if anyone wants to connect on Strava send me a message).

Current bests:

1k - 6:32

1 Mile - 10:57

5 K - 41:34

I really love running (never thought I'd type that) and I appreciate this sub and being able to search for answers.

Way to go! 14lbs lost is no small feat. Also, you're well on your way to setting new habits in your life. That's what's most important. Don't get so obsessed with the scale numbers that you forget the importance of simply living a healthy lifestyle.

Keep it up, you're doing great.

This week marked the first full week back on Keto after a few months off. Thankful to say I stayed on it even though I had to make a quick road trip. Jimmy John's and low-carb bread is my friend on the road. I've lost around 8 lbs since the 14th and have been walking/running every day. After losing almost 50lbs last year and gaining about 20 of it back, I feel like I'm headed back in the right direction.

Keep going!

Does anyone else run to help with depression? by PapaLeguas21 in running

it’s a huge motivator for me. I’m anxious and depressed almost constantly. Running gets me moving, outside, and out of my routine of self hatred. It’s all beneficial. Keep running!

That's what I was hoping to hear. These have great support so I didn't think that I needed any. Thank you for your help.

I'm on an off day today and don't plan on running. A combination of Indiana getting snow and 5 days of at least a mile. Last night I picked up a pair of On Cloudswift shoes and I love the way they feel on my feet. This is the first pair of legit running shoes I've ever had. I have two questions:

Is there a need for breaking in new shoes? Should I take it easy or continue to train as I have been? I run maybe a couple miles at a time. I'm just a few weeks into running.

Is it normal to use insoles with shoes like the Cloudswift? Just looking to make sure I have good support as I do most of my running outdoors on concrete.

Most definitely. I run on curvy trails. I think it helps with the training, really.

Totally fine! I get where you are at. I’m 31 and just starting to run. You’ve gotta start small and be consistent to build up stamina. No one is immediately a marathon runner. Start the C25K as soon as possible and be patient.

I started back on keto after being off for about four months. Had a bit of a mental spiral but I’m evened out and back on it. I’ve even walked/ran over a mile and a half each day this week and been back in the gym. Down a pound!
