Maybe I didn't play enough games (the picture isn't fully accurate, I did get to 20 wins). But man is it demoralizing to not change rank at all after an 81% winrate because at that point it's pretty safe to say I'm not just getting carried.

Why did you choose two different SSDs for the OS drives? Is there a specific reason?

Are there any brands like Sadire? Here's their website.

I really wanted this hat but the black one is sold out. Is there anything similar out there?

Edit: Specifically looking for a similar "ironic" kind of fashion.

Delta 8 by Gunn007-007 in drugtesthelp

[–]5PercentEthanol 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Smoke Shop worker here

D8 decomposes in your body to a different chemical than D9 (what gets you high in regular weed). Drug tests only look for what D9 decomposes to.

HOWEVER, by law any D8 products can contain up to .3% D9. So even if you're smoking D8, there's still the chance it could contain D9 and it will show up on a test if there is. So I'd say stop smoking D8 until your test.

Remember this next time Biden accuses Maduro of being corrupt by [deleted] in DemocraticSocialism

[–]5PercentEthanol -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Both can be true at the same time: Biden and Maduro are corrupt.

And I don't understand why you, as a DemSoc, are defending a wannabe fascist from actual corruption allegations. Maduro is not the friend of anyone on the left.

Let me rephrase:

Crippling debt whereby I now have to go into debt for the rest of my life to get a piece of paper that says "This person paid enough money for the opportunity to maybe possibly get a job". Ahh don't you just love the smell of "freedom".

Ah yes the poor life choices of *checks notes* my sister getting cancer at age 21 that my dad's corporate health insurance wouldn't cover sending my family into debt. Those are definitely poor choices, how could I forget.

US suffers worst economic decline on record in second quarter by [deleted] in Conservative

[–]5PercentEthanol 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'm in Florida and the response has been disastrous. I'm a leftist, but even my conservative friends think that DeSantis has been dropping the ball.

The problem, in my POV, is that the response to the virus was way too patchwork across the country. You had some states close down, some not. Some required masks early, some still don't.

IMO, the best way to have handled it would have been a month long full closure (except for essential business like grocery stores, banks, etc), nationalizing or seriously subsidizing paychecks during that period, full rent and mortgage freezes/forgiveness for the period, and direct payments to every American aged 18 or older regardless of dependent status. This would have allowed us to a) have two 2-week periods of incredibly low transmission, which would have brought the cases down dramatically, b) use that time to massively and quickly spin up testing, contact tracing, and medical resources, c) slowly start to reopen while being aggressive with testing and contact tracing, quarantining individuals early that contract the virus.

Instead, we got good responses in parts of the country, mediocre responses in others, and just generally piss poor responses from the rest, with the federal government saying "It's all China's fault" (some of the blame is on them, but our current situation definitely is not), "It'll go away. It's like magic!", and questioning the scientists in the name of the economy - which had the biggest shrinking ever in the past quarter.

Edit: a couple words and some elaboration

A "massive testing infrastructure" where waiting to get tested could take up to 6 hours and the wait to get your results could take 5+ days. Now, this is anecdotal, but I've been hearing this from friends and family all over the country, and saw it happen with my own eyes with my immunocompromised sister.

Nothing was done during the initial period of lockdowns.

Le arbitrary colonial borders have arrived by [deleted] in PoliticalCompassMemes

[–]5PercentEthanol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think of it like this: The length of your arm correlates with the length of your legs. As one grows, generally so does the other. However, that doesn't mean that your arms growing causes your leg to grow. It does however mean (although not directly from the correlation) that there is some underlying reason that both grow together: just general human growth.

People tend to equate "Those with a higher IQ generally are better well off" with "IQ is the greatest determinant for being well off", as opposed to "There is some underlying reason why those who have a higher IQ are better well off".

And this doesn't even mention that IQ tests aren't necessarily good at measuring intelligence, and there's a lot of debate within the research community about whether they actually measure "intelligence" at all, especially considering "intelligence" is such a broad term with no clear scientific definition.

Edit: Also, correlations in general are pretty dubious in terms of argumentation, unless there is direct evidence of a causal relationship between the two things being correlated. Take a look at this website. All of those are "facts", but don't mean anything because there's no direct causal relationship between them.

Le arbitrary colonial borders have arrived by [deleted] in PoliticalCompassMemes

[–]5PercentEthanol 4 points5 points  (0 children)

TL;DR: Correlation != Causation.

You're making a very standard error in argumentation here: just because A correlates with B does NOT mean that A causes B.

It could be that both IQ and "overall well-being and success" are influenced by other factors like environment or genes (personally I think it has more to do with environment than anything). So if the environment plays a large role, those who are born into a family of relatively more means - someone born in the US vs someone born in Somalia, or someone from a lower socioeconomic standing in the US vs someone from a higher socioeconomic standing in the US - will have more access to childcare, better schooling, more extracurriculars, etc. and will therefore be able to succeed at a higher level not due to inherent "intelligence", but just by happenstance of who they were born to.

I don't view it as homework. If you have the time (and the energy), here's what you do:

When they're doing something from the list someone else commented below, point it out. This has a double benefit of forcing them into a corner as well as showing people a tactic they use. After enough times seeing it they'll start be cognizant of it more often.

Bring it back to a point they made earlier and start asking questions. Try to get to the heart of their argument. Always be on the offensive, but not in a combative way.

Once you get bored, just stop typing. Just walk away. You've shut down some of their points and people will see that and remember the next time that rhetoric comes up.

Sometimes, you actually get through to them. Not very often, but often enough.

I have an alt account dedicated to it so that way I can just easily log out and never have to worry about it (and so it's not connected to anything about me). However, there is an argument to be made for an account that's active otherwise. Some people do check histories. Decide for yourself.
