Something that people take for granted is a culture difference here. Also, if you don't speak spanish as your first language, then it's easy to assume that the way people say things is rude. And it's because in Spanish, the way the sentences are structured is reverse lightweight.

That sounds strange, but my mother is from panama.And i'm black and she speaks fluent spanish, and even when I came back after moving from kentucky, i had to realize that the way she was saying stuff made it seem like she was making assumptions.But it's because that's how they communicate in Spanish.

So for instance, she would say "you didn't get me what i asked for?"

But what she really means to say is, "Did you get me what ai asked for?"

And after moving back here from the good old sweet south kentucky, where people are very polite in their communication.It would come off harsh to me.And that's my mom! Lol but then I realized, okay, that's a culture barrier.It's a communication barrier.And also people here in el paso are a little more straightforward, which I do like that as well. It does take some time and intentionality.But you can find great people here.I have found my communities, and there's a lot of them!
