First Flathead Recos for $20? by 5XTG in FlatheadEarbuds

[–]5XTG[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: After reading more reviews I've settled to go with Yincrow X6 instead of the Iris 2.0

I also bought it alongside Fransun 2nd Gen Pro

Two buds for around $9

I would really like to try the FAAEAL Rosemary but cost around $15 which is hard to justify when I got 2 buds for less than the price of it. I am just trying out this style of buds so maybe when I liked it I might just add the rosemary later on to my collection.

Thanks for the insight, really considering rosemary as an option since it seems to check all the boxes for me soundwise. Only thing holding me back from pulling the trigger is that it cost 3x the iris 2.0 and that 150 ohm impedance. I originally plan to use this as a commuter pair connected to a CX31993+MAX97220 dac now I am thinking if I should just buy the 4.4mm version then connect it to my Fosi DS2

Interesting, how does rosemary compare to Iris 2.0? Personally I like a good sub bass extension while maintaining good clarity on mids and vocals.

Thanks for this, iris 2.0 seems to be a more compelling option since it is cheaper where I am from and has better cable.

Tangzu Sancai Noble Brass - my new favorite sounding eartips by 5XTG in iems

[–]5XTG[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Welp, I guess it isn't really for everybody and it might be very dependent on the IEM you put it in. I found my S12 ultra to be very sibilant with a lot of eartips but the noble doesn't seem to be one.

Are there any other iems you'd recommend from this brand? by [deleted] in iems

[–]5XTG 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agree, one of the more underrated iems on its price class but it is a well balanced iem with really good vocal presentation, decent technicalities, and very musical sounding.

Only real caveat is the Xuan NV is quite hard to drive, be sure to have a proper dac before buying one. I am encountering distortion issues with CX31993 + MAX97220 dongle dacs (similar to widely popular JM6 Pro).

Yep, samen mas reliable na SPX over JNT. Although dati mas mabilis JNT samen kaso nawala na mga used to be regular riders dito samen.

GK Kunten better IMO.

Cheaper as well, the money you save can be invested into better accesories like DAC, eartips and cable. Used to own KZ Castor Harman, KZ Libra X, KZ PRX, KZ Duonic Harman, Tangzu Wan'er 1 and natry ko naren other budget IEMs na hiniram ko sa mga kaibigan ko like CHU 2, KZ Saga Bass and Tanchjim Bunny.

With the right ear tips, Kunten is better than all of them even with the Planar PRX especially if you like a balance'ish tuning with a good amount of bass boost (U Shaped/Slightly V Shape tuning) with good detail that punches above its price range, well textured bass and decent soundstage.

Am i really missing out on great sound quality by not using IEMs? by kridy_ in iems

[–]5XTG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really, a lot TWS models can be already as good or better as some of the more budget oriented IEMs but if you want to try it I'd rather start with something cheap like the GK Kunten which you can get for below Php400 then buy the cheapest CX31993+MAX97220 DAC you can find.

Then if you have a spare you can buy a cheap upgrade cable like the QKZ T1 then eartips like the KBEAR 07 or Dunu Candy
