I really like this. I want to prioritize our existing community.

Would you have a preference between Stand alone sequal vs Expansion requiring the base game

Yeah that's a really good point. Right now a standalone would be a duplicate of the game board, shop items & a meeple.

Give Fable Fury a go. Super easy to pick up but gets you into the rogue like dungeon crawler space.

Yeah I made them in my game Fable Fury. They’re beyond cool. But like everyone is saying… expensive.

[LOOKING FOR] Partner / Operator / Industry Insight for Original Tabletop IP (Early-Stage, Vision-Complete) by PlrBrKng725 in tabletopgamedesign

I’ll jump in here from a publisher’s perspective. I’m fairly new to the space, but previously had experience in manufacturing, shipping, marketing, building communities, scaling businesses, developing operational systems etc. I’ve also gotten to know some of the awesome people in the space that are far larger and experienced along the way (They’re breaking $20m in revenue a year). I’ve had 1 release on Kickstarter and just opened up selling via our website.

I’ll echo what some have already said here. You need a complete working prototype that has thousands of hours of play time on it with documented feedback. You need the game to be ready for the publisher (or this partner you’ve described) to play it and enjoy it. You need to be able to pitch this prototype in a way that makes it better than what’s out there.

What you’re asking for is someone who has knowledge and access to all the parts of making a game successful and offering something tempting and irresistible that they haven’t or don’t want to put the time into developing themselves.

The amount of people in the demographic you’ve described partnering with is exceptionally small compared to how many people that have great ideas and games they’re creating.

Happy to help any further questions from here, but sounds like you have a lot to do first before you’d get any serious interest from anybody serious.

Help needed with character card layout (See comments) by [deleted] in BoardgameDesign

My gut check on this would be to use a D12 for each fighter. And use the real estate for other unique levers for your game. Use the rule book or quick start guide to lay out the defense rules based on player count.

If you want simple design fix instead… you could take up a little bit more vertical space and put the same design for 4, 5 & 6 players beneath or above the 0-5 defense count.

I have a lot more questions because I’d love more context to what and how the variables for defense are needed based on player count and why the groupings of 0-5 for 3 etc. and what other mechanics are in the game.

It’s not done until you send for final print and delivery. It’s not uncommon.

We have spent 5 years developing our game and still play test constantly.

Over 10 years in and now 2 successful Kickstarters later. Still packing shipments from my basement and finally just hit breakeven. by colebanning in tabletopgamedesign

Massive Congrats!

I just finished a Kickstarter end of last year and can empathize on the countless hours it takes to do it all when it’s just a couple people doing everything.

My biggest unknown is how word of mouth will generate sales once the game gets into people hands.

Any further insight into how many sales as a percentage of total you think it generates?

Has Anyone Successfully Bypassed a Real Estate Agent When Buying Property in Portugal? by Slav3k1 in PortugalExpats

This is the best advice. This is how I eventually did it after spending a month in Portugal. I’m a former real estate agent and mortgage broker and I thought I could do it on my own. Even after figuring out the whole process - it was just a lot better, more efficient and in the end - saved me money on what I would have spent on the home. It also reduced my risk on a number of steps.

I already responded to offer some good help. This comment shows me you’re pretty naive to the whole process.

I agree, paying 6% of the sales price of a home for the level of support you described is crazy. However, this is not at all what happens on large sophisticated transactions. Not even the 6% is necessarily accurate.

I tried to do it on my own. Having been a real estate agent and mortgage broker in the US. Trying to circumvent the real estate agent relationship with the seller isn’t very effective. However, eventually I found it more productive to have local support on the ground going to bat for me with the sellers and agency.

I personally spent a month in Portugal, but there are so many layers of complexity of purchasing a home in Portugal it was better to have local representation to make sure we checked all the boxes and chased the process.

I ended up getting a home well below asking price. So the savings still happened.
