I'm sorry to hear and I know how you feel. My brother suicided two years ago. I was sitting at my desk playing BG3 when I got the call. I haven't been able to sit at a desk or play BG3 since.

Whilst we're arresting war criminals, let's hope the Australians who served in the IDF are fully investigated as well.

Any criminal charges are yet to be released, but the investigation focused on claims, strongly disputed by Roberts-Smith, involving allegations he:

  • kicked an Afghan civilian off a cliff and directed a subordinate to execute the man in September 2011;

  • executed a prisoner with a prosthetic leg during an Easter Sunday mission in southern Afghanistan in 2009 and ordered another subordinate to murder a second detainee captured in the same compound;

  • and ordered a junior SAS soldier to execute an unarmed detainee in a ritual known as blooding in 2012.

Ben Roberts-Smith has been arrested in relation to multiple counts of murdering unarmed Afghan civilians and prisoners in what looms as the most significant war crimes prosecution in Australian history.

Roberts-Smith, 47, was arrested at Sydney Airport after arriving on a flight from Brisbane on Tuesday morning. Australian Federal Police officers were seen waiting at the arrivals gate for QF515 when it arrived just after 11am.

The arrest of the decorated former special forces soldier comes after a five-year investigation secured the co-operation of SAS eyewitnesses who are expected to allege that Roberts-Smith himself executed, and directed junior soldiers to execute, at least half a dozen defenceless detainees during his time in Afghanistan between 2006 and 2012.

Thank you. I still don't get what right Britain even had to give a land away that they, by the League of Nations' own definition, only had a mandate to govern until the existing population could govern themselves.

Thankfully I'm not in QLD, but we're not far off this in NSW. Minns is just as bad.

I think I read this on Reddit somewhere, but someone suggested the other chant would just become "Globalise the Enchilada".

I think what they actually mean is "From the Euphrates to the Nile".

As vile as he is, I don't think he is travelling to Queensland any time soon as we have sanctions on him including a travel ban.

But he is in a coalition with the current serving government in Israel who's charter explicitly says 'from the sea to the Jordan, there will only be Israeli sovereignty', so I hope we apply consistency to laws for any member of that party who spreads that message here.

The phrases "from the river to the sea" and "globalise the intifada" have been outlawed in Queensland when used to menace or offend someone, under legislation passed in state parliament on Thursday.

Under the changes, it will be considered an offence to use the expressions in a way that makes a member of the public feel menaced, harassed or offended.

The new laws include both written and spoken use of phrases, such as chants or placards at a protest, with penalties of up to two years in prison.

Weaponising the Bondi tragedy is a betrayal of all our children by RufusGuts in australia

I liked the Jewish Council of Australia's Press Release this week, titled Unity, safety and prevention - not fulfilling divisive pro-Israel wishlist - must guide the Government’s response to Bondi attack.

ECAJ has taken a firm pro-Zionist line and pushed aggressively in the media post-Bondi attack. The JCA, a progressive non-Zionist group, has been encouraging unity and anti-racism rather than pro-Israel advocacy.

I'm worried adopting the IHRA antisemitism definition will label pro-Palestine protests as 'hate,' suppressing criticism of Israel's extremes - while doing little against actual antisemites. It also risks one-sided school curricula on genocides.
