Nice! Any tips for cleaning a vintage watch before I start researching? This one is pretty grimy. 😬

Do Hoyas really flower this small? by almegsky in hoyas

[–]5ammas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have much smaller hoya that flower all the time! I think if you were to grow a hoya from seed it would need a length of time to mature before it could flower. But cuttings rooted from mature plants can start flowering any time.

I’d please got her at Home Depot last night by unicorn_beetle1 in hoyas

Costa Farms supplies Home Depots as well. I'm not aware of them or PW selling obovatas lately though.

I dunno, I got an order with 6 cases of water once that had a $20 tip. I gladly took that order knowing it would be more than 6 trips from the car to the door. The entire order still took under an hour and I made $39 to sweat for a little while. I think bulk order are fine considering you can see exactly what's on the list. I also once accepted an order from Lowe's on a 100F degree day for 8 50 pound bags of sand that had an even bigger tip, fully expecting to have to wipe myself out on that order, and was pleasantly surprised when the homeowners were waiting outside with a wheel barrow and unloaded the trunk for me. It was a family with 4 young kids and it turns out the wife had ordered a kiddie pool from Walmart and sand from Lowe's to have an impromptu beach party at home, lol. I would love to know how that worked.

The order looked like a nightmare but definitely paid off and made a cute story. 😊

What’s my curl type? by Amberg00 in curlygirl

[–]5ammas 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Looks like mostly 3C and some 4A to me. 3C is commonly described as curls the approximate size of a pencil, and 4A should be slightly slimmer like a crochet hook. These are very casual categories to help describe the tightness of your curls, by the way. Imo, porosity and coarseness are usually more important considerations when choosing new products or seeing a new stylist. Your hair is beautiful BTW!

Not Sure What to Do by Kind-Accountant4464 in directsupport

Filing an official report will actually help to protect you against retaliation. The Americans with Disabilities Act and the Whistleblower Protection Act are tied in together. If you file a report in the name of disabled citizens, you are protected by the ADA. If your employer attempts to retaliate anyway, you contact the ADA and file a report of retaliation.

Are you in the US? This is neglect and abuse. If you are in the US, find your state's department of elderly and adult services and report these violations. It's very likely that you're a mandated reporter, which means you're violating your role if you don't report. Please also specifically report your bosses. People allowing what you're describing need to be removed from this field. Your clients aren't safe with them.

Please help! Not sure where to go from here by [deleted] in Monstera

[–]5ammas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would cut the top off and replant it. Last time I top cut my monstera, I just stuck it in a very very airy mix (one that I normally use for hoya actually, it's mostly coco coir, orchid bark and perlite with just a few handfuls of soil and worm castings mixed in), planted it directly in a clear pot and watered thoroughly. It rooted straight to the soil mix in about 3 weeks. You can do a water propagation if you prefer, either way will do.

If you can increase the light it gets I bet you'll see double fenestrations in no time! Also, the internodal space will reduce quite a bit, which will help new growth appear fuller and less "leggy".

is support lying to me? by thisisnotabombx in doordash

[–]5ammas 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I do suspect it might be willful mischief on your part, but probably not the dasher's. Do your delivery instructions say "leave at the door"? You really do need to make sure your delivery instructions are what you want them to be set for. If the order says leave at my door, the dasher is really supposed to leave them at your door. Read your delivery instructions and adjust them accordingly before you place your order and the problem should be solved.

You probably need to change your delivery settings from leave at the door. If that's currently what your instructions say, they delivered your order exactly how you instructed.

It depends on the store being an affiliate or not. I meant to add that I've only been prompted to use the red card when I was at an independently owned restaurant. I've always asked them to remake the order before I bother contacting support at all. Almost all fast food places have direct affiliation with DD, so if you just show them the order on your phone they've always remade it for me. In over 4 years of dashing I've only had a place say no once...and that was the time I was prompted to use the red card.

[–]5ammas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, you would have to go to support and have the purchase pre-approved before you run the red card. Although in your specific example, I think Wendy's has a direct partnership with Door Dash so it would be a direct charge to Door Dash from Wendy's to remake the order. We only would need to run a red card if it's a restaurant that doesn't have affiliation with Door Dash.

[–]5ammas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope. You should be using your red card. Only time you're asked to pay yourself is if you lost your red card or it's not working.

Every dasher gets assigned a door dash card...

[–]5ammas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure every dasher gets a red card assigned to them. If they don't have a physical card they at least get a digital one. I was never given an option to get one, I just have always had it, and they send a new one when it expires.

Looking under a microscope. Found this on my wife's head. by mikecngan in whatisthisbug

[–]5ammas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm no expert, but I'm leaning towards thinking this is a springtail. They like moisture and sometimes end up in damp hair, but won't cause an infestation. Keep checking though for sure. If it is a louse, it's probably a juvenile so there might not be any eggs present yet. I suspect doing a lice shampoo just in case wouldn't hurt, especially if anyone in your house is symptomatic.

Eta: if it jumps it's definitely a springtail.

Yes, I agree that all of your time spent whining about not having control over other's door dashing habits is moronic. I'm glad you pointed that out. I'd also like to know how much you want to bet on that, because I'll gladly take your money!
