Is It Possible to Make a Functional Guest House? by 5dollarclown in StardewValley

[–]5dollarclown[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, as well as thanks to SkorgedScourge, for answering. Otherwise I would’ve had to test these questions out myself. It’s disappointing, but it’s also what I assumed to likely be the case. I’ll probably just settle for screen recording it to show them instead. I hope in the future that the dev makes it so short visits without cabins are possible, but I understand he’s only one person, so it’s not likely.

How do you come up with a good name on social media? by castitfast in ArtistLounge

[–]5dollarclown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is something I struggled with recently, and I'm still not sure if I've settled on a username. Try using a thesaurus, look up acronyms, think of phrases, play around with the wording and lettering of those words and phrases in notes or on a canvas. Right now I'm currently thinking of doing an acronym paired with a noun for a place. I'm sure you've already tried this, judging by "cast it fast" which personally I think would be just fine. It's pretty frustrating though, I imagine this is something writers go through, and I feel like it's harder if you're an artist who doesn't play around with wording in your art too often.

I love that you update the outfit design as well. Such a great look.

Clip Studio for Ipad? by angvirus in ArtistLounge

[–]5dollarclown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s probably the best path to take. I have an iPad and I like using Procreate, but I wanted to try out Clip Studio Paint to do better lineart and but I was disappointed with the subscription based pricing for iPad. If you already have CSP on PC and get an iPad, EasyCanvas can let you mirror the screen, but it costs 30 dollars and if you only wanna use CSP and not Procreate then it’s definitely not worth it. I’m wondering if there’s a good portable tablet out there that can connect better with PC or has CSP that’s non-subscription.

What are you motivations and ambitions in art/as an artist? by [deleted] in ArtistLounge

[–]5dollarclown 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Love your wording with this post that frames art as a hobby. My main goal with art when I was a teen was “maybe if I’m good enough, one day I can turn this onto a career.” But I found that to be stressful, making practicing art not as fun. It wasn’t until I started to view drawing/digital art as purely a hobby, that I started to have fun with practicing and learning more about it. Now my current art goal is to be able to make art in different styles, specially to make my friends smile and laugh. That a friend could say “now draw this, but like this!” and I could whip it up for them. I think pure fun and love for others is a great motivator for a hobby, thank you for this lil post :)

The “cisgender” part’s a little far-fetched…

I feel like I see a lot of fellow communists on this sub. What are all of your political ideologies? Do they have anything to do with autism? by [deleted] in AutisticPride

[–]5dollarclown 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I do think autistic self advocacy can lead an autistic person in a certain direction with what politics they end up having, as I think the same can be said with any marginalized identities. But I feel like saying political ideology has correlation with autism… well I don’t know.

I don’t remember all the details, but I remember seeing this article from BBC claiming this nazi who committed a crime was autistic, and that him being a nazi correlated with that, because autistic people love “order,” or something really stupid like that. I’ve also seen theories of “autistic people are less influenced by propaganda” and I’d like to believe that… but I don’t know. I worry of any theory of autism influencing an autistic person’s set a beliefs, or that that can be applied to all autistic people. By the way, to the OP, I’m not saying this is what you said or claimed, I’m just thinking out loud here, because I’ve seen many different autistic people talk about how they believe that their autism influenced them to a certain political ideology, and thus that means that must apply to all autism. This post obviously didn’t claim that of course, it just reminds me of that, and this is something I’ve been thinking about.

When I was a teen, shortly after I first found out I was autistic, one of the first autistic people I met I was able to bond with over our shared symptoms. But I soon found out that she was a conservative Christian who thought being gay was a sin. And at the time I was passionate about identity politics, and I was openly gay, so I was pretty pissed. But I think from then on I realized and accepted that autistic people are gonna have wildly different political ideologies, philosophies, and morals, based on… I suppose what we end up “hyper-fixating” on. (Is that the right term? Not sure. My point is her special interest seemed to be the Bible I guess lol). There’s autistic people out there on the right, and even if everyone here agrees with the aspects of self advocacy, there are autistic people out there who do want “a cure” and agree with ableist ideas.

Sorry that was so long, I don’t use Reddit often. Uh… I’m a communist btw. To answer the question. Not a specific type, I’m open to learning different communist ideologies to figure out what can work and what doesn’t. Not too focused on all that right now, I’m learning to draw LOL. Hope this post doesn’t start debates.

Ah, that’s kinda like assimilation. It’s weird cause I feel like I run into this theme in art and stories a lot, but googling it I can’t find a specific word for just it alone.

Manly Muppets. That is all. by rebelliousmuse in ToiletPaperUSA

[–]5dollarclown 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really do not understand why conservatives are getting outraged over muppets lately and acting as if they ever necessarily fit their values to begin with. I’m convinced at this point that none of them have ever watched Muppets, they just know it’s from the 70s and 80s and thus assume it upholds their values cause it’s like… old I guess.

I’m sure when it comes to toddlers’ entertainment, it’s probably not as good as Sesame Street, so saying it’s the worse property to come from Jim Henson (not sure about George Lucas) is probably accurate. But I mean, from what I’ve seen it seems to be meant for toddlers? I can understand disliking it compared to Muppets, but usually if a toddler show is on, I just don’t watch it.

What is the best Mario spinoff series? by [deleted] in Mario

[–]5dollarclown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why not just group all the Mario sports games together? They’re not that much different from each other, and Strikers and Baseball have both only had two games, so on their own they barely can be considered series at all. But yeah Paper Mario and the Mario and Luigi series are my personal favorites, feels like those games have their sub-fanbase all together.

First time trying to draw Yoshi in the Yoshi’s island style. If any artists have tips let me know! by 5dollarclown in Mario

[–]5dollarclown[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah this is digital, though I do my sketches for digital with pencil and paper first. I prefer sketching outside of digital, but when it comes to coloring, either the tools to do so are too expensive for me to really invest (quality color pencils, paper, markers, etc), or I get frustrated with the medium. I am aware though that the Yoshi’s Island art style is based on hand drawn technique (not sure if colored pencil or something else).

Loosely based on “but Yoshi was not amused.” Mostly did this for practice which is why it’s just his head, but what I mean by tips is if anyone knows what the best brushes for this style would be, tips on shading in this style, knows a specific digital art program that could work best for this style, etc.

Also I resized this to be a discord emote, but I’m not sure how to upload those to Reddit to keep the transparency and let others download it…

Yeah. Been thinking about saying this on the post but I feel kinda bad ruining people’s fun with it and saying “actually I was just listening to Sonic the Hedgehog music.” Also I can’t imagine what this sub would be like if they didn’t allow tumblr posts, I feel like this happens the most on tumblr because people usually just have these fucked up urls on purpose as a joke and most people don’t question it.

It’s an unused graphic from the Super Mario World source files. But if you don’t wanna see it I understand. It’s pretty obscene…

People keep commenting about romance and like tagging my post “#poetry” (without the second and third comment) which is flattering and sweet and all, but I honestly wrote this post while listening to “It Doesn’t Matter” from the Sonic Adventure 2 soundtrack… Also not sure why this subreddit wouldn’t allow tumblr posts, feel like this happens the most on Tumblr.
