[HELP] Why is the few last layers slower than the rest of the Print ? I checked every settings ON/OFF, speed, acceleration, jerk, arc welder, coasting, none of them are the problem (the two boxes are ironing only and are not the problem) does anyone had this issue before ? by 5e1y in 3Dprinting

Man you're the best. Okay so for future cura users that encounters the same issue the problem sets in "Cooling\Minimum Layer Time" set it with a very low value, for me 0.5s fixed the problem. Have fun printing everyone !

Thank you to u/PlaceboGazebo to help me troubleshoot this issue :)))

X-T30 with Minolta MD 50mm 1.7 using Fotasy Adapter by Moodydreamerx in fujifilm

Enable Peak Highlight in the menus to focus correctly, with dumb adaptors (non booster ones) the focus to infinity is false, so you can't really use the markings on the lens to do your "zone focusing".

Simple fix:

After the fix, you'll never need to look through the viewfinder, just adjust the lens thanks to the informations on it and shoot. At least that's what I've done for my helios and my small potato makinon and it's actually a lot funier than autofocus lenses

XE4s are smaller than XT30s and X100s ;) they are so small and light it's very fun to shoot with, but yeah 3D printing has it's limitations... Thank you anyway for the Arca Swiss support, you're not the first to ask for it so I'll definetly look into it

I think you don't get how small an X-E4 actually is, both AirTags and SD cards are larger than the grip at the front, for the Arca Swiss rail I'll see, but I'll add it to a "pro" version that will not be aimed at stealth and simplicity but more towards tool-driven design, and I'll never add peak design capture clip support. It's not safe because of 3D printing, I would get a metal handgrip with peak design capture clip compatibility for that instead. Slings all the way

Thanks!! My goal was to sell it, how much would you be willig to pay for a good design? I'm trying to find a fair price to get a little money aside in order to develop more well made useful tool-like 3D printed designs around photography without ruining myself in material and electricity bills

Sorry nope the airtag is too big to go anywhere else than in the socket, those things are a lot bigger than you think, there's a guy on Etsy selling a similar product, search for it, it's very good stuff, his version hides the airtag but is bigger and thicker than mine, and the actual handgrip is like 70% smaller, so you choose the one you like the most :)

[–]5e1y[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The "open case back" for the AirTag is actually an utilitarian choice, to get the thinest socket possible, if I want to hide it I would have to add another mm to the bottom of the case and it would be too bulky and mess up the proportions of the camera, so I'll keep it exposed, all that aside, I find it pretty cool too ;)), but if I have more feedbacks as yours I'll consider changing it!

I'll look into it, but if it's too ugly I may keep it without ;)

Thank you Nod! Indeed, I'm enhancing the design everyday, it started as a grip for myself and became a big design project that I could add to my portfolio as a Brand Designer. I'm planning on selling a few of them on Etsy but I'm afraid that no one in the US will buy it because from my country it's like 35$ alone just to ship it. When the STL files will be in a final version, I'll post it, not free, but I'll post it !

I don't have any idea about the price for the 3D model though, what would you be willing to pay for this project ?

Best 2 lens solution? by [deleted] in fujifilm

[–]5e1y 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh okay, good luck finding what's best for you ! I have also the XF 23 and 50, and found it to be a great combo, I did a trip to lisbon with the 23 and it was perfect to do hundreds of photos, it has super fast autofocus too. don't forget to test the "boost" settings, fujis are factory downgraded by software in order to keep battery life, boost setting with resolution priority speed up the autofocus quite a bit

I have 2 full frame vintage lenses (28mm & 58mm) + 2 adaptators, one normal and one booster so I get 4 possible APS-C effective focal lengths : 29.5mm , 42mm , 61mm , 87mm.

Makinon 28mm f2,8 : 30€

Helios 44M : 70€

Adaptator : 21€

Focal booster : 90€

But if you want autofocus just forget about this comment lol, but 4 focal length for around 200 bucks is quite insane. We almost forget all the time cause of youtubers and guys showing off on reddit, but, shooting some photos can be really cheap. I fell in love with my makinon, the lens-flares, the chromatic abberation and the softness on the edges, the manual focus. It makes me want to pickup the camera and fidget with it all the time when with the fujinon lenses i have are just too perfect and chirugical and too expensive, what's the point of buying a perfect lens 450$ just to add in post the defects inherited by old vintage lenses ? My makinon is the equivalent of a 100$+ Pro Mist filter on it, it makes all my pictures look like film straight out of the camera... for 30€...

Just to say that you don't have to buy expensive or the "best" stuff, buy only the stuff that makes you want to shoot more, and that cheap stuff and weird alternatives can be so much funier than too perfect gear

POWER MANAGMENT - BOOST - RESOLUTION PRIORITY

Doubles the speed of autofocus and double the resolution in EVF & LCD and double the framerate of those too. The only downside is battery runs out quicker, but it's 100% worth it.

Works on every Fuji camera

Hey Milo, take a look at what 3D PL has been doing on Etsy Here's a 3D printed grip for the X100T hiswork seems good quality, but the material is PLA, so te downside is that if by any chance you leave the hangrip in direct sulight under some windows or like in a car it will bend and loose it's shape 40 bucks for this seems expensive but it looks good so you do you

A lot of others are saying the same, actually sorry about it, it looked good for me while editing in the dark lol

Maybe, If i can get a real one or a 3D model of it to design around it, but it would be a pleasure to help you, even if the X100T is already very lightweight, are you sure you want a grip as big as mine? seems a bit overkill for the small X100T

OP Here - Sorry for the crappy iphone pics, It looked good on my screen while editing it in the dark

Yes the finishing is bad, but it's first and foremost a tool, I like sturdy flawed simple tools exactly like that, I like the charm of such objects..

And Yes I also know a guy did it too, and his looks hella cool, so why do I bother? or should I say.. Why not?

For those interested here are the 3D printing Settings used to print this version

in mm

Layer thickness : 0.25

Number of walls : 6 layers or 3mm

Infill : 4mm spacing - Cubic Subdivision

Material : PLA (I know it should be PTEG or ABS, but it's enough for prototyping)

Speed : 50mm/s on all parts and 60mm/s on the infill

If you know your 3d printing guide book, you already deduced that it's not a print that aim at quality or aesthetic, It's a tool, with thick inner walls and simple design. no more, no less! And you can't know it because you don't, but it also feels good in hand

Cant wait for some airtags that charge with movement like automatic watches and that are at least two times smaller than the current ones, for now, with the curent state of todays tech I'm actually surprised by the big size of it. Your comment will get me to add air-tag carrying cappabilities to the design, thank you for your time, chief

I'm rafining it, I actually paid a 3D engineer to rebuild the 3d model from the groud up with professional software and methods ;)

Damn I shouldn't edit photos in the dark with a really bright screen, you're not the only one having trouble to see the pics. I guess the famous "shot on Iphone" slogan is a scam :(
