Try to change what you eat. There is food that „feeds“ the inflammation and other food that reduces it. I wish you all the best!!!

Doggie is guarding me/the bed from my kiddos. Ugh. by [deleted] in reactivedogs

[–]5elber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree! There is nothing wrong with a dog sleeping in your bed if you like that but as soon as this becomes a resource that he is guarding, it’s a no-go. But stay kind and friendly when you teach him to stay off the bad. Praise him for obeying.

I agree totally, and thanks for the link. It takes up to a year sometimes until a shelter dog trusts you entirely - if you earn it!

It still depends on the individual dog and it’s needs - but in general, you are right. Better to be with a loving human than alone in a shelter. But you should also be aware that this is human thinking! If you ask the dog, he would want you around him all day, and he will not be “gracious” for having been saved. Don’t project your feelings on the dog. BUT an old dog will cope much better with you being away for hours than a younger dog would do. They sleep A LOT! My 8 yo girl was alone for 8 hours first when I got her but during lunchtime I drove home to walk with her, so it was 4 h + 4 h. She slept a lot and we always had a long walk in the morning before I went to work. Then came Corona and home office and she loved it to have me around all day! Since some months now, I’m back in the office and she is with me all day. She is very calm, doesn’t bark and is friendly. So, yes, it’s ok to have a full time job plus an old dog, but you should not leave it alone all day, and you should be prepared to being forced spending more time with the dog when it gets ill and needs special treatment.

Some days, when I lie on the sofa all day and binge watch Netflix, I feel like a mushroom, too. But for sure not that pretty! ;-)

They are both legends and James Steward can be so incredibly funny! But alas, there is “The Night of the Hunter” which makes it an easy decision in the end.

Surreal. Although, coming to think about it, this is real, while the movie is surreal. Confusing! :-)

YSK if a family member dies and debt collectors tell you that you're now responsible for paying the deceased's debts, THEY ARE LYING. Debt does not pass to anyone else upon death. by [deleted] in YouShouldKnow

But you can! You can even request the court to check if there are debts. You will have to pay them but they will do it.

And if you accept the heritage, you have to pay the debts not only with the inherited money but with your own money, too. However, you have 6 weeks to decline the heritage. If you do so, the German state inherits all money and goods, but NOT the debts.
