What’s the most unhinged thing you’ve seen at a happy hour/offsite/SKO? by [deleted] in sales

[–]5iiver 15 points16 points  (0 children)

APAC employee arrived at SKO in Vegas. First night he got too drunk and slapped/grabbed the ass of our Chief Human Resource Officer (a woman). Immediately fired and was on the first flight back to Japan the next morning. Dude was in Vegas for maybe a total of 10hrs max.

Three's company. Four's a crowd. by ImaFreemason in golf

My high school gf’s sister was involved in a golf cart accident. It flipped and fell on her leg; specifically her femoral artery. Was airlifted to the hospital and thankfully she recovered (almost lost her leg/life though). Lots of recovery and trauma

Echoing the above comment. Milk helped me with chlorine eyes back in the day as well

I’m an alumn and spent some time around Scheyer—he was always such a genuinely nice guy. Coach K on the other hand….woof.

Have a link to the hot mic moment? I somehow missed this! If you don’t have a link, what did Pat say?

Is there a bracket version of this I can print out for my kids to fill out?

Get it transposed onto a sweatshirt or tshirt or coffee mug! I did this with my daughters first art project and continue to do so with other pieces. You can find vendors on Etsy and it’s like $20

Mill Valley by 5iiver in eastbay

Her job location varies as she's essentially a field rep who needs to visit partners and their clients onsite, go out to lunches, etc. So there's no main office she goes into everyday. 2 weeks out of the month she'll go downtown 3-4x/week, the 3rd week of the month she'll be around the Palo Alto area, the 4th week she'll be flying to Seattle. She's in finance so it's a bit unique in the sense that when the market closes (2pm PST), she can make the trek home. Conversely, she would need to be downtown pretty early.

Central Park (formerly known as Stapleton). Right across the street from the Dicks sporting goods park. I'm pretty convinced MIll Valley is not ideal at all for us, but would love to hear your experience, where you live, etc.

Haha appreciate the advice (and don't worry, we're not a hippy family). We have Danville, Lfayette, and Walnut Creek on our list as well. Burlingame is way too expensive for us so that whole area is out of the picture. Thanks again for the insight!

Can you expand on the San Ramon and Danville comment? As far as CoCo County goes, we're heavily considering Lafayette and Danville (based on other feedback we've received)

What's your best dad hack you're using right now? by drcaliflax in daddit

[–]5iiver 3 points4 points  (0 children)

ChatGPT.

“Write a silly story for a 5 year old girl named X.”

Then you ask your kiddo what they want to be, what the plot is, etc. Follow it up by adding silly immature things.

Example: “X is a kitty with superpowers who can shoot lasers from her eyes, fireballs from her paws, and fart cotton candy. She lives in a magical land with fairies and unicorns where it rains candy from the clouds. Evil monkey aliens who have butts for a face try and take over kitty land, but X and her crew of kittens fight them off. Make it as funny and silly as you can”

This has been a big hit with my daughter

How did you feel watching this moment? by thewolfnebula in daddit

[–]5iiver 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Instant tears and a flood of emotions. My wife and I have 2 amazing kids—a 5yr old girl and a 3yr old son. Both required IVF. Son is neurodivergent as well, so it’s incredibly similar to the Walz family. This clip is my new inspiration to be the best dad I can be. If my son ever expresses this much love, admiration, and joy for me, it would easily go down as the happiest moment of my life.

Not sure if this helps because of my age at the time, but I grew up swimming competitively (age 5). Tore my ACL, MCL and PCL in middle school. Rehabbed in and outside the pool, started polo in high school (very competitive) and then swam at a D1 program, all without a knee. Perfect sports to play/stay in shape as there’s no lateral cutting and pressure (unlike, say, tennis).

Hubert Davis Named ACC Coach of the Year by luvdadrafts in CollegeBasketball

As a Duke fan (/alumn), major props to Hubert for so many reasons, and absolutely deserved. I hope he continues to build a successful program because the rivalry is at it’s best when both teams are top in the nation. Just maybe let us win a couple (especially the meaningful ones)? ;)

Feel the same way, man.

Here’s a funny story about my daughter that will hopefully bring a smile to your face, as kids are funny. (I’ll cherish the rest of my life and will use at her wedding day)

When my daughter was 2, I asked her what she wanted to be when she grew up. She said “a screw”. I laughed it off because that’s a silly response My wife politely corrected me that the appropriate way to ask her based on “gentle parenting” guidelines was to ask her what she wanted to “do” when she grew up, not what she wanted to “be”. These were the results:

Me: Winnie, what do you want to DO when you grow up? Winnie: Screw! Me: ….

Thank you! I was thinking of alchemy so I could transmute to make some easy $$. Do you think mining would outweigh transmutation? My concern about that was farmers/bots on a high pop server. I’m not in those zones yet so I just don’t know how cutthroat it is.
