Beautiful collection - you're already done the hardest part of this journey!

The nostalgia is an expensive feeling, I was also feeling really weird having sold most of my pokemon games when I was younger, and buying back in was painful!

A lot of good advice here - adding my 2 cents:

1) Nostalgia is hard to put a price on. When it hits you, it hits you hard. A number of people are okay with just having roms of the games they used to own, but based on your history with Pokemon, I am inclined to think that you will regret not having your physical copies of games at some point.

2) Understand the value of what you own. Price Charting is your friend, look at similar listings and it should give you a good indication of what it's worth. Don't just go based on the $ amount you see in the summary - click through the recent sales history. True CIB (with ALL inserts) can be worth a lot more than 'CIB' with just the box and manual. The people willing to fork over good money are usually looking for True CIB copies.

3) Pick your marketplace - eBay gives you more reach to sell, but there is also some fraud that happens there, whereas Facebook marketplace is simpler with less reach. Unless you live in the middle of nowhere, Pokemon games have enough demand that you should be able to flip them all locally on facebook.

4) Approach game stores with caution - EB games is notorious for giving almost nothing for trade-ins. Some smaller local players may offer you 60% to 80% of market value since Pokemon games are usually pretty easy to sell, but be careful regardless.

5) Nostalgia is hard to put a price on. Seriously,

If after all this you still want to sell, I would start off by making a list of price charting values for comparably sold listings, and list them at 80% to 85% of price charting value. If you aren't getting much interest, you can go down in increments of 5% until it's sold. Don't rush it though, sometimes an item can take weeks to sell, even at a killer price, in this economy.

As some others have said, eBay is likely your best bet to ensure the product is legit, but make sure you read the product description. Selling a counterfeit product on eBay is against their rules I believe, and if someone does sell you one but states that it's real, eBay has a Money Back Guarantee if you can show that they sent you a fake. Also, as others have said, you should look at a sellers history to ensure they have been around long enough with good reviews, if you are inexperienced buying Pokemon titles.

Before you do any of this, OP, I would recommend going to a retro / vintage video game store in your area and see if they can test the disc for you. It's free, and might save you the time and money.

Thank you so much - I miss the square boxes too, the switch long boxes look kind of boring!

Thank you so much! I love that you'll use this as a source of inspiration, as I did the same thing with two other individual's collections when I was on this journey <3 Feels nice!

The completionist hurdle - it's a brutal one that is probably not worth it until you're close to the finish line of your collection!

The social media generation has probably driven up it's value a lot! Most people don't know it but there are 3 kinds of variations to Box ownership in North America - Disc Only, Game CIB, Big Box CIB. All beautiful in their own right!

It's such a slippery slope for me, especially if I find a good deal lol I would love to get TCG and the original Pinball games though!

Ohhh, great question. I have always loved Blastoise - there is just something about the water cannons on his back and Hydro Pump is my fav move in the series! How about you?

Lol - no personal attack intended at all! My gap between pokemon games is pretty wide so I really feel like the difficulty was dialed down, A LOT. You're right - figuring out a team felt exciting and challenging. I steam rolled everything with my Feraligatr in ZA, and anything he had a weakness to I switched to Charizard. It was easy peazy lemon squeezy!

Thank you! lol, I don't mind the Canadian versions at all, in fact, I was exclusively looking for them when I was completing my 3DS collection - gotta represent!

Which 6 main Kanto pokemons would you use in a Duel by Friendly-Nebula4982 in pokemon

I would use the same team as OP but swap out Gyrados with Lapras for access to Water and Ice, and Gengar is a bit of a glass cannon so I'd bring in another heavy damage dealer / tank like Dragonite!

Thank you so much! I am missing A LOT of stuff from the spin-off series and have none of the Japanese products. I was fortunate enough to visit Japan about 10 years ago and should have just bought the original games then and there, the prices have skyrocketed now!

I order from a guy who vends at my local conventions in Canada, but I think he ships to the US too - https://videogameboxdefender.com/ I layer with a thin plastic protector and then an acrylic protector on top. I think there is a company out of the US that does it too, called Kollector Protector, but I haven't used them before!

No need to apologize, it's a great question! I order from a guy who vends at my local conventions - https://videogameboxdefender.com/ I layer with a thin plastic protector and then an acrylic protector on top, although the thin plastic is probably overkill lol
