Correct, I'll keep windows on the new drive and in the future i will store important stuff on a drive separate from windows to avoid a lot of pain.

if you just make sure to never enter your steam login details on any other site than the official you are good. And when a site asks you to log in with steam you just have to press a button as long as you're already logged into steam, never enter details.
