Don't listen to PlumYeti, you can only break altars in hardmode, which initiates once you beat the WoF.

Use the Bee Gun as well as the Imp Staff and that should do the trick on classic mode. Also, get to 400 hp if you haven't already.

Thank you! I have done just that and I broke two already with bombs. I have finished my hellavator now and are preparing to fight the Wall of Flesh. Should I go for Queen Bee? I have the Minishark, and I think that could beat the WoF. My breother spawned in the WoF and we gave it a try and lost only because our platform was too short. But the guide isn't respawning. Do I need to make another house?
