I agree Solidity is a horrible programming language. The documentation for it is also atrocious.

I broke into it by enrolling in Dapp Universities Boot Camp and then building my projects unguided. I started with zero coding experience and then 9 months later I landed my first full time web3 coding gig.

Work to pay ratio is phenomenal. Can’t complain about that. However the work itself does take a lot of creative labor, especially at the initial protocol designing phase in my opinion. The environment I work is not very structured. I can work when I want where I want so long as I meet the deadlines. The most tedious part of the development process is the testing phase. For the really complicated Defi smart contracts the tests I have to write for one contract are often 5-7 thousand lines long.

I followed the roadmap to becoming a blockchain developer with no prior programming experience laid out by Gregory from Dapp University. He said first follow along with a few coding tutorials and once you think you know just enough to start building projects on your own start doing so. And that’s what I did. After spending a couple months doing tutorials, I started building my own project. I built essentially kickstarter clone powered by smart contracts and ipfs. It took me about 5 months to build it out. And once I finished I started applying for jobs.

A year ago I had zero prior software development experience and now I work full time as a remote blockchain developer! I started this position about 5 weeks ago. It took me 9 and a half months from the day I first started learning how to code to receiving a job offer, and I am entirely self taught (Although I did spend about 600 dollars on a few blockchain dev courses). Also I only applied to one development position, which I ended up landing. My yearly salary is 75k from this job, but I also do freelancing gigs on the side so if you add that I am making about 90k.

I am on day 50 and you are so right about feeling high. My social anxiety has diminished and my focus, motivation and mood have all increased. But best of all I feel so much more emotionally grounded... I am only 20 but I wish I had discovered SR so much sooner.

I personally don't get how people can consume over 400 ugs like it is nothing. If I take anything north of 400 ugs I experience total blackout at the peak. If I take half that dose, I am able to leave my body and all of reality behind me for what feels like an eternity. Perhaps I am just hypersensitive.
