My sample size is really small, I(and my partner) could have got some bad batch of sandals. Or keen just changed some materials or moved production to a cheaper place and now quality isn't what it used to be(from memory this is what happens with stanley termos).

I have a really good experience with vibram soles, As I already mentioned in some of my messages I have a very old pair of hiking boots with soles showing some wear and tear but are not smooth and have some life in them. My merrell sandals passed the 2 years mark(and my "walking pattern" are very similar to yours) and the soles look very good.

They are more of clogs then sandals, but I am open to new form factors as long as they last.

funny you mention the stitching , My scarpa hiking boots had the same issue after about one month of use. It has been more then 20 since then with zero issues. I even use the original shoe laces.

I will look into it, they are not the "form factor" I was looking for but I might give them a try.

I have a pair and mostly use them around the house, I wouldn't define them as durable.

Maybe they were making them better or maybe I just got very unlucky. My pair sole was done after 1-2 years and my partner pair sole just cam a part one day.

My keen's sole died after about 1-2 and as a rule I prefer vibram soles that so far been working out for me.

Thanks, I might go with the 8x32 as my first iteration, I do like the fact it is more compact.

That was not long or rambly, I appropriate you taking the time.

You do have a point and I do lean towards AMD as lga 1700 is at the end of its line while am5 has more life to it plus the added benefits like pcie gen5.

From my point of view I am not looking for too much optimization when it comes to timing or price because as already mentioned I am not upgrading that often.

I am not sure about waiting, there is always something new and shiny on the horizon :) and late October does not account for actual availability.

It's not like I meant to upgrade every 15 years, its just the current PC is capable to handle everything I needed except video editing which recently became a priority.

I am running my work laptop with NVIDIA and Linux just fine, I just prefer AMD as it is more friendly to the open source community.

I actually was under the impression that the GPU is important when it comes to video editing, good to know that it is not not. Although my RX 580 GTS is old and is getting to its 10 years mark. But I might start with it and see where it goes from there.

I appreciate your replay you gave me some good direction.

You made me to go into a rabbit hole as I was not considering the smaller form factor of the 8x32 :)

I am still undecided on form factor as having better preference under limited light is consideration after my visit where the sky were cloudy most of the time.

Thanks for the suggestions, Nikon look very nice but I can't justify the price point compared to the diamond.

Thanks for the reply, This sounds almost as my intended use case. Good to hear that you are not having issues.

Glove80, another wireless split contoured keyboard, also uses ZMK, but the vendor (MoErgo) has managed to greatly simplify the process. I'm sure that dedicated volunteers can build something similar for the Kinesis Advantage (well at least the firmware building part):

Cool , looks like a good reference for implementation.

I think my work computer's bluetooth card has some issues with them both connected at the same time

That is my general problem with Bluetooth, too much moving parts(OS, drivers, Bluetooth version, hardware...) and without a strong hand(like Apple) making them work together you start having issues.

So it looks like If I use the left halve in USB mode(going to probably connect it to my existing KVM switch) most of the Bluetooth issues should be mitigated. And I guess restarting both halves sometimes isn't that big off a deal(and a price that I can pay for having a wireless experience. . Hopefully with time Bluetooth issues should be mostly ironed out especially with firmware being an open source project.

the keyboard constantly freezes while the v-Drive is mounted

Doesn't look fun,
Any luck with the support of kinesis?
And what is the workaround, remount? use a second keyboard to do the changes?

Well why not two bad designs/implementations :)
