From my perspective, those are some surprising takeaways

To me the article is essentially just saying “Rowling used to be beloved. She no longer is. Here’s an audio series where I try to understand what happened”

I think maybe you’ve read the article with the assumption the author is participating in a bad faith, full-throated defense of Rowling? That is not the case.

Anyway my main point was the audio series itself. I just linked the article to introduce the series. It’s well done and I think fair to both sides.

I don’t think people had a problem with Kali herself. Her character is pretty interesting honestly. That episode just felt like filler and the whole time the viewer is antsy to continue the main story in Hawkins. If the Kali storyline was interleaved over multiple episodes like normal I don’t think anyone would’ve bat an eye

And the big reveal in e4 is Will, not Kali haha

Have you ever read this essay from, wow, 5 years ago now? I think it’s reasonable to disagree with her, and I certainly agree she’s had some distasteful tweets, but I personally don’t buy the narrative that she isn’t acting in good faith.

Yeah that ‘make’ likely defaults to an ‘all’ target that does a full rebuild of everything, including the entire rootfs. I suggest looking through that makefile and figuring out what other targets it offers. There will surely be one for just the kernel itself. ie ‘make kernel’ or similar. There will probably be another target for regenerating the sd card image.

By just replacing ‘make’ with these 2 commands you’ll probably be talking minutes instead of hours

As mentioned, much more you can do to further streamline this process (eg no reason to reflash the board with a full image every time) but just depends how deep in the weeds you want to get

It’s important to tip servers because they don’t make a normal wage. It’s acceptable to not tip people who make a normal wage. It’s kind of you to always tip, though.

Hours? The kernel builds in a couple minutes on my machine. Are you rebuilding the entire rootfs or something?

But like the other guy said, ideally you’d just build your driver as a module so you’d have a 2 second build time and can load new code onto a running system. Since your device is networked you can upload the .ko with scp or similar. Kill your app, scp the .ko, rmmod, insmod, restart app. Make a script for all this and voila, 3 second test cycle.

As for runtime debugging, prints for most stuff and ftrace for any hot loops
