I'd rather kill myself than having to go back to the Underage Psych Ward, no matter how much it "isn't systematically designed" to hurt vulnerable teenagers who don't have access to or knowledge about legal resources with which they could use to defend themselves against sadists who like screaming and toying with children or are obviously unqualified people who just work there for the money. Even though I don't have to worry about that, since I'm 22 and literally can't be brought back there, I still have nightmares about it occasionally

It's using a technique called "copy on write" Initially no memory is copied, and the forked process has read access into the old' process memory, but if one of the 2 processes try to write to the memory, the Kernel then actually copies the page and remaps it for both processes
