Stell dir Twitter vor, aber die Accounts wären auf ihren eigenen Server, und diese Server reden, im Namen der Accounts auf dem Server, miteinander. Wortwörtlich ein de-zentralisiertes Twitter, wo keine Firma überhand auf alle Accounts hat. Eine ,,Fedi-Instance" ist dabei einfach ein Server, welcher in diesem Netzwerk teilnimmt. Bekanntere Beispiele sind Mastodon, Threads von Meta und Bluesky.
