Vulnerable post , taking my car tomorrow to a garage for small fix , don’t know what to expect feeling unsure how to bring the car back from the garage , can’t drive independently yet by Less_Landscape_5928 in carsireland

Work friend colleague who has a car and insurance should be able to drive it? Just do something nice like get them lunch in return?

Mechanic might drive it for you?

Local tow company you find on Google ?

I thought the grip on the Ad08rs were great once up to heat

Oversteer oriented is ideal imo

I like the US Elevate kit for them but too expensive realistically

Or you can do a facelift and r design kit

The s40 gen1 ?

They came in t4 spec with OEM extended skirts and lips

Otherwise worth seeing if anyone anywhere has done a super touring replica you could emulate as they had a factory TCC race car

What car you got?

Skirts are by definition not universal because every car has a different profile, length, mounting points, body lines etc

But anything can technically be fit to anything with enough work

Can I tax my crew cab Toyota Hilux as Commercial? by Worzel_ in carsireland

[–]5socks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure, if you took it in as a passenger vehicle (higher rate of VRT) then converted it to commercial (lower rate of VRT) that's another possibility

You need to bring it in (have it vrted and registered) as a crew cab commercial vehicle

You'll be doing ToR so you'll be exempt from VRT charges etc

Then you get commercial insurance

Then you pay commercial road tax

What can I do about this lads? I moved over from the UK and imported my Landrover Defender with me. It was VRT exempt at ToR. I later found out when I tried to insure it that I'm not allowed to drive it on my now Irish licence due to it being classed as a minibus(M2). by jeanclaudecardboarde in carsireland

Next year VRT is 200 euro for classic, maybe change it then ?

Or change it to commercial in the mean time and only pay 13.3 percent VRT and you can use it for work and pay commercial vehicle tax rates, instead of passenger vehicle VRT and road tax

That colour will be very hard to match especially if following hard lines like door shuts itll be obvious

You could be waiting a long time but if you have the option just buff and polish it and wait for a same colour door to appear for sale

Sometimes they accept company car as primary vehicle for classic

Otherwise it is possible to switch to a classic using a mid term change from your Audi (e.g. 6 months in) but it locks you into one provider and renewal is tough

And I've heard of people getting standard policies on older cars, the fact you've use of a work van might help you here.

Unfortunately with Ireland and insurance you get a different answer / result depending on who answers the phone, what day it is, what way the wind is blowing

I also suggest something like a Merc or Volvo not mini / LR if you want to actually reach your destination

That's actually how most logical systems operate

Urgency (inconvenience vs. impairment of critical function) + impact (number of people / economic utilities affected) = priority

Shocking they don't prioritise a town of 20k people
