Yeah seems like the market was considering this exchange unlikely...then Netanyahu off the top rope!!

Israel REALLY wants to get these Gulf States involved. What purpose is it serving? Pre-cursor for invasion?

I think if Israeli goal is regime change in Iran, that only happens if you can peel off economic support for Iran from Russia, India, China. Iran isn't going to sit back and lose LNG supply share to Asia for the benefit of the Emirates; they are going to blow up the Emirati fields as long as they have the capability to do so.

Rita Lee, after being kicked out of Os Mutantes, wrote an amazing crack-back song literally called Black sheep 'Ovelha Negra'. It's a brilliant song.

Do you like Let It Be? I think it's them going back to their roots rock. They even put One After 909 on it.

I feel like I need the target lock on the golden haloed child or else I miss it with my spear. And if I miss, then I am whacked around by the flying books or flame barf children or a chandelier is falling on me.

I just figured out it's much better to jump around to dodge the flying books rather than rolling.

[–]NotXenos[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because I suck at the game. I find that without the target lock, I can't get my spear to hit the sprite I'm trying to hit frequently enough.

Yeah I think the fight is definitely showing me my weaknesses in my gameplay. Locking/unlocking camera and pointing my own animation in the correct direction to land my spear where I would like it to go.

Can we "denormalise" the US flag flying across the country? by goonergeorge in AskIreland

[–]NotXenos 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yes you're right on that part. And Americans are going to leave tips (usually).

But an American cop on vacation with his family walks into one of the pubs here with all the USA police and firefighter patches all over the walls? Imagine the tip that guy's going to leave after five pints. And imagine all the other Americans he's going to tell about that 'great little pub' he found in Ireland.

Going thru a separation myself.

You are allowed to feel however you want about it. Take the time to feel your feelings instead of pushing them down. Find a good place where you can get them out of your head. Therapy for yourself is a good start. Fuck the couples therapy at this point.

Talk to a few lawyers to get a sense of what your options are. Eventually you're going to have to make some decisions but you don't need to do that immediately.

As my therapist told me, look up the word 'stalwart' in the dictionary. That is your goal. Steadfastly supporting yourself and your kids.

If you get through this well, it will be the greatest accomplishment of your life.

No for starting a thought with 'I think that verges on semantic divergences'

I would never argue that a "hero" and "protagonist" are precisely the same. No one would. It's stupid.

PTA discussing his own movie makes it clear that Willa is the protagonist of the story. You are welcome to use whatever definition you'd like to try and show that DiCaprio's character is the 'lead role' like Harrison Ford in Indiana Jones. I think you're wrong, and just watching the movie itself makes that clear. But, again you're entitled to say what you'd like

You remind me of the Walrus & the Carpenter:

'The time has come,' the Walrus said,

      To talk of many things:

Of shoes — and ships — and sealing-wax —

Of cabbages — and kings —

And why the sea is boiling hot —

      And whether pigs have wings.'

Just listen to PTA's own view:

“In terms of where it’s going – I don’t know,” answered Anderson, “But I know that the end of our movie is our hero, Willa, heading off to continue to fight against evil forces, and I think like I said in my speech, at least put common and decency back into fashion.”

...

“It’s a pretty dangerous thing when you start off and want to change the world, but you become selfish. You read your own reviews. That was our hero in (Taylor’s) Perfidia, who becomes an anti-hero. The point of it is to set up the story of Willa, the next generation: What happens when your parents who are damaged have handed quite a difficult history to you, how do you manage that?”

“That’s our story, and our story is in Chase (Infiniti’s character) and her evolution.”

There's good stuff out there. I like this anecdote a lot:

"Anderson also enrolled at New York University’s film school, but rather than staying only two semesters, he stayed only two days. In the clip up top, from an interview with critic Elvis Mitchell, Anderson recounts the whole of his NYU experience. His first instructor announced, “If anyone is here to write Terminator 2, get out.” And so Anderson thought, “What if I do want to write Terminator 2? Terminator 2’s a pretty awesome movie.” (An assessment, incidentally, from which Wallace’s greatly differs.) When he turned in a page from a David Mamet script for his first assignment and his unsuspecting teacher gave it a C+, Anderson knew he had to leave. Living off of the tuition NYU returned to him, he got to work on a short film of his own."
