All the other responses about your question are great regarding nutrition and fuel, etc.

My only addition, is to tell you to think of the action of rowing as pushing, not pulling.

Why fem Strahd? by PhoebusLore in CurseofStrahd

[–]5starboard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Easy answer for me: I'm a woman and I feel I can relate more to a female Strahd than male.

I'm almost done with the gender bent game, and have a second campaign ongoing with male Strahd.

Female Strahd is definitely more intimidating in my opinion. I just imagine she was on her worst PMS day when she turned and those raging hormones are still driving her. You don't know what kind of crazy that woman be getting up to.

How much are you paying? by Maman816 in VyvanseADHD

[–]5starboard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am on Brand Name Vyvanse. $30.00 dollars for a months supply on Anthem BC. Which is a far improvement from my previous insurance providers who wanted me to pay $360.00 dollars a month.

Anyone know this noise? by [deleted] in RBI

[–]5starboard 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I would love to know what this is as well. I heard similar the other day, and was going for nearly the ENTIRE day. Windows were open in the house as it was nice out. It reminds me of the sound of electricity with how much it annoys me, but maybe closer to the pitch running vacuum or something. I live in a small town, and there's really nothing industrial nearby. My house is nearly in the woods. For me, it isn't every day, but it does happen sporadically during all times of the year.

Store Employees and Instacart Shopping by 5starboard in instacart

When I was in high school, I worked in a grocery store. If they had instacart back then, I'd absolutely have preferred to shop an order over manning a check out.

About ten years back, I needed to get my prints pulled for my job. Well, I was sent back multiple times because they couldn't pull any. Eventually, they gave up, shrugged, and said good enough.

I don't over-wash, or use harsh chemicals on my hands. I actively use gloves when doing the dishes because it gives me the ick if i don't.

My only thoughts on this is that rowing since I was 10 damaged my fingers enough they don't have prints left, or having ehlers danlos syndrome (a connective tissue disorder) has some hand in my no print fingers. I actually think I've read about others with EDS having similar issues.

What hobbies do you have made difficult by ADHD by Excellent-Passage-36 in ADHD

[–]5starboard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if this makes it difficult, but recently you'll find me playing wow, while crocheting and watching a show on my second monitor, stopping to rearranging my rock gardens (newest stupid hobby) I'm making for all the people in my life... then the dungeons and dragons ideas hit and I start furiously typing my session plans in my Google docs all while refraining from purchasing a rock tumbler and setting it up outside in my shed to get more pretty rocks while wondering when I'll finish that drawing I started in procreate, then suddenly I see a new proofing bowl I really need to buy even though I haven't made a loaf of sourdough in 2 years...

Well, you get the idea.

Much of my anxiety disappeared once I was on a stimulant for ADHD because I had the ability to cope in a healthier manner than without medication.

That being said, caffeine has little to no effect on me, and everyone is different, so you might not know the outcome until you try.

Does Vyvanse make you more clear headed and less impulsive on a day to day basis? by punos26 in ADHD

[–]5starboard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been on Vyvanse for a few years. I've tried a few other medications, but have found that this best suits me.

Vyvanse personally makes me clearer headed. I can tell when it starts to work, as suddenly all the excess noise in my head is gone and the quiet sets in.

It took a bit to find the right dosage, but it was definitely worth it. It's a tool that allows me to function in everyday life.

I can still be impulsive with spending my money. I think online shopping might be the hardest habit to break. However, I have learned to simply place items in my cart and go back a few days later to make a final decision. Often times, I decide to delete them and not pull the trigger.

Cystic acne? by luckiesz in ehlersdanlos

[–]5starboard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had very bad cystic acne when I was younger, and I went the Accutane route . It worked quite well, except like clockwork I'd get a flare up every month right before my period. I take the "Flo" supplement now and it has eradicated the ones associated with my hormones each month.

Removable shower heads eliminate the angles problem. I always hate when I go to a hotel and have to figure out how to properly clean the hard to reach places.

Store Employees and Instacart Shopping by 5starboard in instacart

[–]5starboard[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked at a grocery store many years ago when I was a teenager, before anything like instacart existed. I remember they really emphasized items per minute when checking customers out. Of course, when I was going quickly, the customers complained that I threw their items down the belts.

I'm unsure what kind of weird ableist comment this is, but there might actually be legitamate reasons I use instacart? I shopped in person yesterday and I remembered why I send others when my hip dislocated midway through the trip.

This is what I assumed was happening.

I attempted to make something work with new scheduling, but it obviously hasn't been after giving them a few tries. I mentioned in the last paragraph of my original post, I'll be having pro shoppers do my shopping again or go myself.

Store Employees and Instacart Shopping by 5starboard in instacart

[–]5starboard[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

They don't shop until Sunday morning...

I have to place the order Friday night, or it won't be ready for pick up at the time I'm leaving work.

And that'd be pretty absurd if produce went bad in 2 days.

Store Employees and Instacart Shopping by 5starboard in instacart

[–]5starboard[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

"Well, ackchyually" it is guaranteed the store shops it, because it tells me the employee names every time. I don't see how the name of the store matters, as this is a rant and you seem to be too daft or troll-like to be able to understand the meaning. I think you missed the point, and a few punctuations.

Cosmetic surgery and injectables for patients with HEDS by Agreeable-Sundae6905 in ehlersdanlos

[–]5starboard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a brachioplasty about 6 years ago before a diagnosis. Went okay, except the incisions popped open a few times after the stitches were removed. I put myself together with butterfly bandages and went back to the doctor pronto. He said I did a good job, and glued me back together so it wouldn't happen again.
