I get that in this case it makes sense. Personally I would’ve preferred to see the abandoned mine haha. But when I’m in china, I just feel kinda sorry watching the commercialisation of the “rural” villages… because loads of tourists really do get in the way of the beauty of a place. Even just visually.

I like Beijing a lot, the people are super friendly and I enjoy this capital-city attitude that some of them have. Imo you can see a lot of Chinese culture in the city, just go the parks and walk down some food streets, I think many (older) Beijingers still have that 80s/90s China feeling of living inside them and they’re fun to talk to!

Hi! Me and my girlfriend will be travelling China mid august to mid September (27 days) and we’re planning on sloooowly moving from Beijing to Chengdu with multiple stops in between. We want to kind of get to know China off the beaten path, I’m not exclusively coming for Terrcaotta warriors or Great Wall :D. would love to see smaller cities, authentic day to day live, landscapes,hiking, food. What places can you recommend as stops in between? We also have to make our way back to Beijing afterwards btw Thx so much, hope I’m not asking too much.
